Vehicle Detail

124 Sport Coupe, Amazing Condition and IT's A COUPE!! She was a California car shipped to Connecticut several years ago, purchased and driven by me, (I love it)! Minor repairs done in my term with her include replacing metal in a small weak spot in passenger side floor and reinforcing rear shock mounts, single weber installed and tuned on an 1800cc BC Fiat motor (California owner had transplant done from original 1600cc motor), suspension is very good, five speed manual (close ratio short throw) is excellent and so is the clutch. Having tuned the carburator, added new plugs and coil, she starts and drives very well. With the exception of the clock, all gauges work, manual windows and all glass is in good shape and the seals are good. THE BODY IS AMAZING, Solid with no rust issues, this is an incredible example when you consider 99.9% of Fiat 124 Coupes (in the world) have gone the ashes to ashes, rust to dust route (in their first ten years or less) and don't even exist in any condition anywhere! The interior is an integrated mix-match of what appears to be '72 era and '74 era pieces... Having owned (new back in the day) a '71 Coupe followed by a new '74 coupe I can't even tell what is from which group, I think the dash and seats (in excellent shape) are from a '74-'76, possibly the engine donor car in CA... none of it matters, it all fits and looks right as well as having had a new headliner installed in CA. The chassis and underbody are in extremely clean and solid condition. This is a truly great find. LESS THAN AMAZING: This car is not without flaws... as seen in the pictures, the paint (previous owner) is a good "ten footer" but there are some paint chips and tiny beginnings of surface rust even though the car has been stored every winter (it's currently in storage as well). There is a tear in the driver's side bolster and a split seam or two in the front seats. She could probably use a valve adjustment, the tires are well over 6 years old and should probably be replaced (valve stems are cracking). The drivers side manual window cable is frayed and worn but still operates the window if treated gingerly. There are absolutely no amenities in this car, no power windows, steering, seats, air conditioning, I don't even know if the heat works (I never cared)! The muffler has been replaced with the equivalent of a stainless steel "glass pack" so it's LOUD but very Italian. Make no mistake, this is a toy to be cared for and enjoyed in the best of weather, not a daily driver and she will need some attention in order to drive her regularly. DO NOT purchase this car and expect to drive more than a hundred miles "home". Remember, this is a 27 year old FIAT and even in her younger days, she could break down on a long trip. Any potential buyer should plan on having this car transported or towed. I describe this car to my friends as the "screamin yellow zonkerz" from the (not so) fast and (very) furious. She provides a truly time capsule Italian style (arms out straight, knees in chest, enjoy the sounds and the connection to the road) driving experience guaranteed to bring a smile to your face every time out! She is an absolute blast to drive on backroads and is incredibly well balanced so even when you're not going that fast, you're having a grand time feeling like a speed racer in a sports car. 124 Sport Coupe **** This is a NO RESERVE auction **** 124 Sport Coupe Please note, this is a private sale... the pictures were taken on a friend of mine's car lot this past year. I keep all my cars (read "toys") there, and everything is always for sale (for the right price). Email or call me, David, (cell) 603-355-7949 with any questions... thanx for looking! On Feb-09-11 at 15:55:56 PST, seller added the following information: Please forgive my incredible momentary lapse of brain function! (Too many cells gone...) This is a 1972 Fiat Sport Coupe not a '74. Thanks to the gentleman who pointed out my error (see "questions").
