Up for auction is my 1974 Charger with a big block 440 4 bbl and a 727 automatic transmission with 3:90 posi rear end and dual exhaust. When I bought this it had a 318 2bbl small block in it that ran fine. After a couple of years the auto trans went out of it and when it did I thought the timing was right to put a big block in it. I bought a rebuilt 440 and a rebuilt trans to put in it along with headman headers and a 3000 stall torque converter. I have about $4300 in the engine and the trans. The engine is all stock. I bought a conversion kit from schumacher for it and swapped in the new trans and motor, I bought the headers and the torque converter new. At the same time since the motor was out of it I put a new starter in and a new steering gear box in it. I also had a driveshaft made for it with new u-joints. The following winter I had a local shop put in a new posi 3:90 gear in it. The tires, rims and brakes were all new when I bought it. I had a real expensive racing carb. on it that I swapped out a stock carter carb for it. I bought the carb used and it does need a little work becauce if it sits for a day or so you have to crank it to prime the carb before it fires. The reason why I swapped the carb on it becauce it is for my 70 cuda stocker and I still have it. The floor pans, trunk pans, and the undrecarriage is all very solid with just surface rust, no holes. The body work is about 10 years old or so and I think it was done by an amature, it was poorly done and now has some signficant door and quarter rust. The body has several dings, dents and scratches but no major damage. I think someone has put a new top on it in the past becauce it is in pretty good shape. I went thru all the lights and sockets on it and the lights all work like they should. It original had air condition but someone had previously removed it and swapped out the dash. The dash is in pretty good shape but it does have a crack in it. The original radio has never worked and I havnt messed with it to see why. I know the mid position on the wipers dont work, but I havnt ever driven it in the rain. I know the temp. selector on the heater wont slide but I have never driven it in the winter to need it. It has an rpm vibration in it that is pretty slight, it started doing it since I had the posi put in it, the shop that put it in said they would look at it, so if its bought locally I will have them look at it. The speedometer hasnt worked since I swapped out the trans, it needs a speedo cable. I have no idea if the miles are accurate or original but I would think its close. Someone has obviosly swapped out the grill with the hidden headlight type grill, the doors are permantly wired open becauce it doesnt have the motors, but I have an original grille thats in good shape that I am selling with the car, I just havnt had time to swap it out. Same thing with the remote mirrors I picked up for it, they go with the car too. I am trying to be very honest and list the car as i know it. It is a very dependable daily driver that will flat haul ass and smoke both tires untill you lift, this is no show car but could be really nice with some body work. I have $9400 total in the car. I bought this charger about 5 years ago intending to drive it as nice daily driver. I have done quite a bit of work over the last couple of years but I just dont have the time for it anymore. We bought a small farm and intend to build a new house so we will have even less time over the next couple of years. I have driven it less than 500 miles since I bought it, less than 200 since the motor and trans swap. I bought it from a neighbor who had it for several years and always kept it inside, since I have had it has always been stored inside in my shop.
