Vehicle Detail
(No-Reserve) (RARE #51) 1-owner ORIGINAL SURVIVOR (To bidders with less than 10-transactions with 100% feedback rating, your bid will be cancelled unless you 1st provide me with your FULL NAME & HOME PHONE NUMBER FOR MY VERIFICATION, I will NOT post it on Ebay) 1 of 100 TOTAL produced by Chattanooga Custom Center Inc. in Chattanooga Tennessee in 1990. 1-owner 1990 Pontiac Firebird with the following options: 305/5.0 litre (TBFI) 170-hp V-8 engine, THM 700 R4 4-speed auto trans, 2.73 rear axle ratio, removable hatch roof with locks (aka:T-tops), custom A/C, power windows, power door locks, body side molding, AM/FM ETR Stereo Radio with Cassette, electric rear window defogger. Window sticker amount new $14,904, PLUS the conversion cost of $5,091, for a grand total of $19,995. That was $3,000 MORE than a base Trans Am, but $3,000 LESS than a base GTA. The car was produced at the Van Nuys California assembly plant in 12/89 and was then shipped to Trotter Pontiac at 3150 Broad Street in Chattanooga TN 37408, it was then picked up by Chattanooga Custom Center and brought to their facility at 2205 Polymer Drive Chattanooga TN 37421 for the conversion and then shipped to Currie Motors 909 East Chicago Street Elgin Illinois 60120 for delivery. The conversion consists of: A special paint scheme, hood scoop, complete ground effects, 15" alloy wheels, embroidered front seats with special stitching with a Red #1/Black & Gray flag/and CCC's initial's, simulated wood Walnut dash/A/C & radio control cover/console shift cover, a special gold-plated dash plaque on the passenger side of the dashboard indicating 1990 Pro Am 1 #51 (1 of 100). This company is NO longer in business!!! It was then purchased by the original owner on 5/19/90 with the ORIGINAL title (which I still have) issued 6/19/90 indicating just 24-miles on the odometer at the time of delivery with a lien from Ford Motor Credit that was satisfied on 6/15/94. The sale will include the original owners manual, maintenance & warranty schedules, in the the original Gray vinyl folder with Red letters stating PONTIAC with the salesman, service advisor, and service managers business cards, the original window sticker and dealer adendum with the conversion information and paperwork from CCC. The warranty stickers in the drivers door jamb are still intact, the (SPI) Service Parts Identification label is still intact in the center console, and a build sheet was never looked for, but I do have all the parts code numbers from the SPI label broken down into exactly what they are from thirdgen.org. The (81U) bright red metallic paint is in great condition with a couple nicks & chips (as pictured), as well as the lower ground effects gray paint. The paint looks BETTER in person and the paint condition is 9 out of 10. There is also a small scrape on the passenger side view mirror that was touched up. This car drives just fine, NO knocks or bearing noises in the engine, other than a small exhaust leak at the manifold-possibly the donut, starts up fine, charges well, runs cool, transmission shifts flawlessly in all gears including the O/D with NO slipping or pump noise, brakes good without pulsating (but the L/R wheel cylinder is leaking a little brake fluid), steering good and doesn't pull. All the following power options operate flawlessly, dash instrumentation & interior lighting, windows, locks, wipers, both headlight motors, ALL the park lights, headlights, brake lights, turn signals, rev. lights, flashers, pull-down hatch motor, radio, speakers. The A/C has been retro-fitted last year and blows ice-cold air, and ALL the following work as well, blower motor, heater, front & rear de-fogger. The exhaust system is sound and does have a very nice sounding after-market rear muffler with chrome exhaust tips (as pictured), front & rear hood and trunk shocks good, ALL the glass good (NO scratches, including the windshield) NO chips or cracks either. All the window, door, and trunk moldings good. The interior is in great condition, non-smoker, but the original headliner is starting to droop, front & rear carpet & seats good, NO holes, rips, or tears, but the front seats & the carpet could use a light cleaning as it is soiled from 20-yrs of use, all the interior plastic good, NOT faded or cracked, PERFECT dash cover & door panels, good console & glove compartment cover. ALL matched tires good tread (atleast 50%), other than the R/R traction tire is weak. ALL wheels good, except R/F has some minor road-rash. The interior is an 8 out of 10. The body is a 9 out of 10. This car has NEVER been in an accident on the open-road, NEVER dumped in a ditch on the side of the road, and has never even been backed into in a parking lot . However, the front lower spoiler (part specific to this car ONLY) has been repaired and repainted from a low driveway years ago and it wasn't done quite to my standards, but I am very PICKY. We can't locate the additional set of keys at this time to UNLOCK the GLASS t-tops, as they have been changed from the ORIGINAL cracked Lexan t-tops, which will be included if we can find them in the mess in the garage. When you first start the car up it does smoke a little bit, but then it does go away, and it is over 20-yrs old and because of this, it will be sold AS-IS without any guarantees written or implied. It doesn't seem to burn or leak oil, neither does the trans. There is a small amount (approx 6 X 4-inches) of spidering in the paint on the front upper bumper cover right in the center next to the hood, but you can't see it unless you are right on top of it, and it wouldn't even show up in a picture. Now for the WORST thing about the whole car!!! The left-rear wheel well has some RUST (pictures 9 & 23) along the inside edge of the black molding approx. 8" long X 1" wide and the paint is bubbled (approx. 2" X 1") on the outside of the black molding just above the paint graphics. There is also a little surface rust on the inside lip of the rear hatch area. The estimate for this damage to be professionally repaired was $250 for labor & materials.
