1968 Mercury Cougar factory "J" Code 302 4v / C4 auto console car I believe it to all original correct matching #s drivetrain. Built in San Jose CA, its always been a west coast car residing most of its life in Arizona desert country. (rain ? snow..? whats that.. haha) Loaded w/ Factory: PS / PDB and AC (some stuff under the hood missing for the AC) Reserve realistic & Low UNDER $5k !! Very Original and Unmolested Survivor. Motor runs and car drives pretty nice. No smoke or strange noises. Ft suspension will need some restoration as will the interior of course. Id probably also flush the fuel tank eventually along with a good tune up seeing as the car hasnt been driven much in the last 10 yrs. C4 Transmission was rebuilt just a few thousand miles ago at that time a mild shift kit was installed as was a dual exhaust with Turbo mufflers. We still have been driving it to the corner store for lunch runs and stuff. Tires are old as is the front suspension very worn. SHOWS 120K on the odometer, prob original too. . Would be a realitively easy restoration compared to most cars. Drive around as is or restore it to its original glory, or somewhere in between. Very solid body and super straight. NO signs of any previous damage either that we can find. Some of the trim etc missing in the pix will be in the trunk. What you will see in the pics below is: Chrome and Trim is in very nice shape for its age. Body is Lazer straight still and I believe the paint to be original or maybe just one paint job over the yrs. Metallic Grecian GOLD was the factory Color and pretty rare. Ive been all over and Under the car, and have pics to below to prove our claims. Mild surface rust on the hood from the paint being baked off All original sheetmetal / glass all good, but windows can be a little hard to put them up or down. Obviously this is not a restored car. Think the headlights need help with opening and closing. We really try to have realistic reserves on all of our auctions and want to sell cars, not sit on them for another year. LOTS OF PICS, it may take a full minute for them all to load if you have a slow connection, so be patient. This is a great car to restore 100% and would do so nicely. It is an example of a era long gone. Remember: they arent making anymore :) My take is this has been in Az its whole life. Az gets maybe 12" a yr of rain. Check out All the pics and then look for more info AFTER the pics etc. There are over 100, make sure you use the schroll bar on the side to see them all. If you treat yourself to buying one of our cars, youll never buy a rust bucket again from anyone !! Doing restoration on this type of project is less labor intensive which means overall cost is less too ! With less horrid surprises later on. We also have some 17x8 Daisy Style Retro style aftermarket Alloy rims that would look choice on this car. If the winner wants them they are available for an extra $400 !! They should just bolt on, but in some cars you will need about a 1" Billet Spacer installed with them for a better fit. THE BEST REPRESENTED COUGAR ON EBAY HANDS DOWN !!
