This is no rust Florida car with the same adult owner the last 10 years. THE STORY I purchased this 2 door Acura luxury sport coupe from its second owner in 2000 with 31000 miles on it. The adult lady seller was a good friend of mine who had just sold her restaurant and was moving out of state. I had a Cadillac but frequently traveled to my office in Naples and to see my daughter in Orlando, and I needed a more economical but still a comfortable but sporty luxury car for those long road trips. This car got near 30 mpg on the road and was perfect for my needs. Plus, Acura cars almost never break and the dealer service is awesome including free loaner cars when this one is in for service. I love this car. This is the best car I have ever owned. But I no longer travel that much and need the money more than another car. My loss is your gain. DESCRIPTION Edmunds dot com says this: “This is one luxury car that won't leave you sitting at your mechanic's garage. Based on the stupendously reliable Honda Accord, the 2.3CL should run for miles and miles.” And that is the exact experience I have had with this car. It is Honda reliability with Acura luxury. It is a 2 door luxury sports coupe that is fun and stylish. The looks are unique and elegant and this car really stands out. The 150 HP 2.3L engine is very quick but sips gas and runs on regular. This is a much better engine than the previous 2.2L found in the 97 models, and more economical than the 3.0L engine while still almost as quick. The 4 wheel independent suspension gives a great luxurious ride but still handles like a sports car, and the 4 wheel disc brakes with ABS stop it straight and very quickly. This is a CL Premium model and that includes a very comfortable leather and woodgrain interior along with a premium Bose CD sound system which sounds fantastic. There is power everything including the moonroof, the mirrors, and driver’s seat. The automatic air conditioning is digitally controlled, and there is a tilt steering wheel. The cruise control and sound system controls are on the steering wheel. There is a factory alarm system that is remote controlled, and also a built-in three channel universal gate and garage door opener. The trunk is huge. The keyless remote entry and valet key system are very handy as well. Overall this Acura has every option you would expect in a sports luxury coupe and then some, including the performance, economy, and handling normally found only in BMW, Audi, Lexus, and Mercedes-Benz but in a more attractive, reliable and stylish Acura CL package. And it is much, much less expensive to buy and to maintain than those other cars. This is one incredible car! CONDITION The condition is very, very good. Everything works properly as it should and there are no excuses needed. The car is pure stock and original and has not been hot-rodded. This Acura CL has complete history and was originally sold by Rick Case Acura. It has always been a Florida car and has no rust anywhere. Any damage or mechanical issues have been professionally and/or Acura dealer repaired. The body is perfectly straight and the car runs great and handles like new. The doors and trunk close perfectly with one finger. The car has been maintained only by Authorized Acura Dealers in Miami and Naples. The paint is very good and it is very, very shiny as you can see in the pictures. The clear coat is starting to fade and wash out on the hood only, but there is no rust whatsoever and the car otherwise looks great. In fact, the normal wear and tear scuffs and parking lot marks that are there around the car are surprisingly few for a car that is 12 years old. It looks great now but I believe a good polishing would do wonders. The interior is very good for a 98, too, with no rips or tears in the leather areas and no holes in the rugs. The leather is soft and supple. All lights, interior lights and gauges and switches work. All the power windows go up and down and the power door locks work. In fact, everything works and there are no splits on the dash, the leather steering wheel, or on any of the trim pieces. The side and back windows have always been tinted and there has always been a sunshade for the windshield along with a dash and steering wheel cover, so it is not surprising those interior items look like new. The lone exception is a small taped crease on the lower plastic part of the driver’s seat. The 8-way power driver’s seat and tilt steering wheel makes it easy for anyone of any size to get comfortable. I am a big 6-3 and my girlfriend is a small 5-2 and each of us fits just fine. The air blows ice cold and the window tint helps keep it cool inside, even though the rear window tint is starting to get some bubbles. The moonroof tilts and opens very smoothly. With the windows down and the moonroof open it is still reasonably quiet and calm inside even on the highway. The radio is the factory Bose unit. All the speakers, woofers, and tweeters work and the sound is awesome. Sometimes the CD skips or stalls or won't play at all, and it has always done that. The dealer said many do that, but I use a transmitter for my iPod and listen to it through the car’s Bose speaker system so it hasn’t been an issue for me, but you should know about the CD. The trunk and gas door open from inside, and along with the glovebox can be locked and unlocked only with the regular key and not the valet key, so your stuff is safe when valet parked. The valet key also limits how far the car can be driven. The trunk can also be opened with the remote. The two rear Bridgestone tires are very good, but the two Michelin Hydroedge tires in the front should be replaced before long. There is enough tread left, but the right front has a slow leak. Sometimes it starts to go down in a day or two, sometimes not. If filled you can easily drive all day. I recently drove across Florida up to Anna Maria Island, just north of Sarasota and back here to Miami – more than 500 miles - without needing any additional air at all, but if I were going to keep the car I would replace the right front tire, and, really, front tires should be replaced in pairs. The brakes and Acura battery are good, too. The alternator / compressor belt has just been replaced as part of routine maintenance. The car comes with the original Acura leather zippered binder with all the original manuals, booklets, radio anti-theft code and so on. This car runs and drives great. There are no squeaks, rattles, groans, or any strange noises at all. There are no check engine lights on. The engine runs very well and does not smoke or burn oil. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly. There are no leaks (other than the right front tire.) All things considered, this is very much better than most 1998 cars you will see and you will be very proud to own this car. It may even spoil you. What do you buy after owning an Acura CL? WHAT IT NEEDS In addition to a good home, it will be needing a front tire or two. I would recommend Primewell or Nexen tires that are very similar to the very expensive Michelin Hydroedge tires I bought, but are nearly half the price. You may also want to have the fading paint on the hood repainted, although it is possible that it would look better with just a good compound and wax job. If you play CDs the CD player might need to be serviced or maybe just cleaned. That is it. Everything else works perfectly. This car should not be a money pit for you. It should be reliable, economical, and a source of pride and enjoyment for years and miles to come. Moreover, since this one is so cheap for its good condition and since Acura CLs hold their value so well, you would expect the depreciation on this to be minimal over the next years. Please note that I have not had the car detailed, as I would rather you see it the way it really is without hiding anything. Overall this Acura is extremely reliable, comfortable, safe, economical and very nice to drive. Everyone I visit with this car is impressed. Although it was pretty expensive when new, today it is a Lexus class car without the Lexus price. What a great value! PRICE To be perfectly honest with you, and to avoid issues later, when bidding do keep in mind you should plan on spending $150 or so on two sensible front tires, and if you would rather have the hood repainted rather than buffed out, that could cost up to $100.00. Of course, you might expect any 12 year old car to need hundreds of dollars in ongoing repairs, but that is not typically the case with well maintained Acuras, especially those having been cared for by responsible adults. So do the math and see the real value here. Those minor tire and hood issues aside, you can expect an adult owned, dealer maintained Acura CL luxury sports coupe in better than average condition in the most desired color combination and with the awesome 2.3L engine like this one should sell quickly here, so if you have any interest at all start bidding!
