Full-Leather. Book Condition: New. Limited First Edition. Fine in a VG+ Slipcase. Hardcover 17 3/8" wide by 11 1/2" high weighing approx. 11 lbs with case., 280pp, 500 color and black & white illustrations, a limited edition of 2,500 copies this being copy #1335, hand signed and numbered by the author. The original publishers ( Automobile Quarterly) data sheet for this book states - All 255 color plates were given a separate coat of varnish. this protective step is found only in expensive art books. It also states - The destruction of all printing plates has been legally witnessed and attested to by an officer of the Court of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Consequently, the reprinting of this book could only be accomplished by copying the original with a resulting deterioration in the quality of the illustrations, which are the highlight of this book. In particular the deterioration will be most noticeable in the 245 black & white illustrations with loss of saturation and detail. Therefore, the inferior quality of the reprint can never be compared to this original printing. Book (without dust jacket, as published) and matching dust case are bound in full grain leather with the boards having bevelled edges, all logos are 22 karat gold
