Vehicle Detail
1990 Trooper - solid and reliable truck. Automatic Transmission, 4 Wheel Drive. New Tires. Tow hitch. Well Maintained and accident free. Up for sale is my 1990 Isuzu Trooper. These are known to be excellent 4 wheel drive off road vehicles. They are also known to be super reliable and easy to fix in the field. Isuzu sold a lot of Troopers to be used in the Sahara and other remote regions, and they were designed accordingly. They often get overlooked in the USA SUV market. I had bought this vehicle intending to take it down to a hunting lease, but that never materialized. In anticipation of that, I had the Trooper completely gone through by my mechanic. Much work was done to ensure that the truck would be safe, able to drive a good distance and be extremely reliable. This truck runs very strong and is completely reliable. I trust it completely. The interior is in really nice shape for a 20 year old truck. No cracks in the dash. It is now one of the better troopers i have seen in recent years. Strong V6 motor and the truck can easily do 80 mph down the highway comfortably. I have been using it as my daily driver for the past three months. Full size spare tire in good condition. New radio/cd/mp3 player with aux input for ipod. All speakers work and are not blown. Tow hitch. All gauges, wipers, lights, horn, and indicators work. Current oil change. The vehicle passed and has current Texas vehicle inspection. All power windows function very well. There is no hesitation in any of the power windows. Within the last four months the following repairs were made - all fluids were changed, including transmission, transfer case, front & rear differentials. Radiator has a new cap and was flushed. Four brand new Pathfinder tires installed in September with less than 4 thousand miles on them. Wheels and Steering where aligned. New brake power booster and brake job. Complete tune-up. Hoses and belts inspected and changed where needed. The engine starts strong, even from a cold start. I was told that the engine was professionally overhauled within the past 3 years. Based upon how well it runs, I have no reason to not believe this isn’t true. There is very little rust on this vehicle. There is some slight surface rust in some places, but nothing major or in danger of becoming a serious problem. There is no rot and there has never been any. There was some rust along the lower right side of the windshield and on the upper rear roof of the truck. This was nothing major, no serious rot. This was mostly surface rust and some small rust holes, the biggest being the size of a dime. This was completely and correctly dealt with. The rust was cut out, the surrounding areas were sanded, anything left was properly killed with oxy. This was scraped off and surrounding areas were cut out. The areas were then cleaned with degreaser and metal prep. POR15 rust inhibitor was then applied, small holes were filled in, the area was primed and painted. This is the proper way to completely kill rust. Unfortunately the paint doesn’t exactly match the rest of the car. The areas are not perfectly done from a looks perspective, but the rust has been properly and absolutely terminated. I cannot tell from a few feet away from the vehicle that the paint doesn't exactly match and that the job was not performed to show-car specifications. I did not want to pay for an entire new paint job because the car was going to be used as a hunting vehicle. This is a 20 year old truck and it does have typical paint fade, chips, dings and scratches you would expect for a vehicle of this age. However there is no rust rot. This would be an excellent vehicle to restore. I just wanted the rust to be gone and painted over so I wouldn’t have to worry about it coming back. You don’t need to worry about the rust coming back in these spots. If you are going to restore this car, this is an easy fix. There is also some slight rear quarter damage in the back right side of the car - nothing serious, see photos. The rear quarter panel is pushed in where the corners meet as if a baseball was pushed in the area. The back bumper on that side is a bit wobbly looking. It is still solidly attached and protects as it should. Again, nothing serious. Here are the other problems - the air conditioner is not blowing. The heater and the defrost only work in the “high” position. I have not used the heat or defrost much at all due to being located in Texas. I don’t know how well the heat works, or how good the air conditioning is if it is working properly. On a few occasions, but not often, when it is cold and the vehicle is started, the check transmission light comes on. If the car is restarted this goes away. The mechanic said that this was most likely a computer problem caused by the cold. Those are the only problems. Nothing major. The frame is in really nice condition. This is a strong vehicle. The interior is in really nice condition as well. Very few stains. There is only one small tear in the fabric on the driver’s side seat. The original leather steering wheel is in unbelievable condition. Comes with original manual. This car was well cared for through out the years. This is a really nice vehicle to use as a hunting truck, off road vehicle, to restore or just use as an extra vehicle on the weekends. It is a strong running and reliable vehicle fresh out of the mechanics with a new set of tires. This is a great trooper. Local Pickup only. Unfortunately I cannot ship this vehicle. This vehicle must be picked up in a reasonable amount of time. If the winning bidder needs more than 5 days to pick up the vehicle, buyer must contact me first for approval. If the vehicle is not picked up within 5 days, I reserve the right to forfeit the deposit and re-list vehicle for sale (unless previous arrangement is made).
