Vehicle Detail

Reluctantly offered for sale: 1977 Toyota SR5 Longbed Pickup. I hate to sell this truck, but I am moving out of state and will have nowhere to park it at my new home. This truck runs like new. It starts right up, idles smoothly, runs cool, and does not leak or burn any fluids. The brakes are strong and the 5-speed manual transmission shifts smoothly. Driving down the highway, it runs straight and smooth without a hint of pull, wobble, or shake. It is very comfortable to drive in town or on the highway. I bought it from the original owner in Oregon a year and a half ago, and the truck was driven from Oregon to Bakersfield without incident. I would feel comfortable driving it anywhere in the country, as it has never given me the slightest mechanical trouble. It passed a CA smog inspection in June of 2009, and I have a clear pink slip in hand and ready to transfer. This truck runs and drives flawlessly. The legendary 20R engine is free of exhaust and fluid leaks. It burns no oil between changes, and even after 3000 miles the oil is still a light golden brown color. I drove the pickup through two summers in Bakersfield, where temperatures can regularly climb above 110 degrees for days at a time. Whether sitting in city traffic or climbing one of the many mountain passes that surround the area, it has never overheated or climbed above the normal range on the coolant temp gauge. It typically returns between 22 and 27 MPG between city and highway driving. The body is free of any serious dents (there are a few minor dings on the bed area), and it has never been wrecked or received any body work. Other than wear to the driver's seat, the interior is very clean and looks great. The original AM radio works perfectly, as do all other electrical accessories. All interior and exterior lights work. The tires are like new, and the alternator, spark plug wires, and ignition coil have been replaced within the past two years. I had a tuneup done by a reputable local Toyota shop when I bought the truck. There are few flaws to mention. The first and most noticeable is the condition of the paint. It is all one color, and the paint is original, but it is not in good condition. The SR5 stripes on the hood and sides aren't looking very good either. There is a small amount of surface rust on the roof, which is shown in the included photos. I fell that it's important to mention that these spots are the ONLY rust anywhere on the truck. The frame, floor and wheel wells are 100% rust-free. This truck has obviously been well cared for. Other than the paint, the flaws are minor: The fuel gauge does not work; it registers full, but drops off to empty after about 50 miles. The parking brake does not work; the cable is broken right below the firewall. The driver's seat upholstery is heavily worn, and both seats have been covered with a cheap set of covers. Finally, there is a 4" crack in the windshield on the top edge just to the left of the rear view mirror. This truck comes with an installed lumber rack. It is an overbuilt and very well-designed rack that offers a lot of versatility for loading. I will also include a set of Toyota factory service manuals for both the Pickup chassis and transmission, and the 20R engine. Together, these manuals cover any repair that may be necessary. I have been so reluctant to sell this truck, that I have put it off as long as possible. I will be moving out of Bakersfield on the morning of January 5th, so pickup will need to be arranged by then. By bidding, you agree to this condition. By bidding on this auction, you also acknowledge that this vehicle is sold as-is and without warranty, expressed or implied. You also acknowledge that taxes, registration, and transfer fees are the responsibility of the buyer. Smog certification is also the responsibility of the buyer. It should also be noted that, while mileage is believed to be 212,000 miles, this vehicle has a 5-digit odometer that rolls over every 100k. Vehicle is registered and officially sold as "Exceeds Mechanical Limits." Feel free to ask any questions you may have, I will be happy to answer them as soon as possible. Happy bidding, and please give my truck a good home!
