Vehicle Detail
Vehicle Description What we have here is an 1983 Buick Riviera Convertible 5.0 Liter (307cu) V-8 Engine, 4 barrel carburetor, Automatic Transmission, Front Wheel Drive Luxury Collector Car, one of only 1,750 Z67 convertibles built in 1983. 1983 was General Motor’s 75th anniversary. Cadillac did not make a convertible in 1983 and the Riviera convertible was priced about $3,500.00 more than the highest priced Cadillac made that year. This Riviera was bought new February 26, 1983 by the Nicholas Knight of Dallas TX from Truman Heddins Chevrolet-Buick of Grand Saline, TX. Then this Riviera was sold to Richard Lake of Dallas, TX in June of 1986 and he owned it until September 1986 when he sold it to Robert Schroeder of Dallas, TX when it had approx. 25,000 miles on it. On October 23, 2001John Countryman of Isabella, OK purchased this Riviera with 101,000 miles on it and we bought it on October 24, 2007 and it now has approx. 103,307miles (as of today) on it. This Riviera has spent it’s entire life as a prized possession of all it’s owners, each one has babied it and stored it inside, hoping one day a future generation would be able to enjoy her elegant lines and sexy stature, this is proven by the amount of documentation that was kept with the car. Included with the sale of this Riviera is a large three ring binder with the entire documentation that has been kept with this car from the day of purchase including the Dealer copy of the list of options showing the original price of $26,872.00 in 1983, the new car warranty information pamphlet, copies of registrations, and maintenance done for many of the years (through 100,704 miles). The first convertible Rivieras were made in 1982 and lasted through 1985, in 1983 the Riviera convertible was asked to pace the Indianapolis 500 (this is not one of the special edition Indianapolis Pace cars but is of the same year). This Riviera is as good as I have seen in this model and is well worth the investment, we are just making room for things. This auction is offered with no reserve and is cash (no trades) only at this time. Vehicle Condition This Riviera appears to have been stored inside all it’s life, only to be driven on sunny days to family events and special occasions. I believe there to me no rust on this car anywhere. There are several new items on this car such as brand new top of the line glass back window top, four new Michelin tires, and carburetor recently rebuilt. Since the car has been stored inside and babied all it’s life the original paint still adorns the vehicle (other than when the plastics around the bumpers were replaced by the previous owner), as well as the original interior. The paint, being original, has minor chips and the typical checking , if you get within five feet you can see it. The interior is very good short of a single crack in the dash nearly in the middle (it is a convertible). The door panel armrests have a sag in them which is typical on these cars. All the glass is good but the rear window regulators need rebuilt, they work when and as they should but the plastic gears are stripped so they do not lift and lower themselves (these are the small side rear windows). I drove this car for a few minutes today and it turned heads, as it always does. The positives of this car far out way the few easy fixes that need to be made. If you need specific pictures please let me know and I will do my best to get them to you.
