This is a fully restored car with matching numbers, Chassis #H-BN7-L/5918, Engine # 29D-RU-H/7830, Body # 5441. The build date is December 8, 1959. We have the original Heritage Trust certificate for this vehicle for confirmation. This car was originally Ivory White with Red Interior. This is a very early 3000 Mark I two seat BN-7 model. This Healey was purchased in 1971 as a tired used car for the sum of $600.00 in York Pa. The owner then drove the car as a daily driver. Travels included Cincinnati, Louisville, Ohio, and Pittsburgh totaling 48,000 road miles in one year! The Healey was then parked for many years and generally forgotten. In 1979 the owner decided to undertake a complete frame-off restoration. Since the owner was an Engineer by trade, every step of this restoration has been carefully documented and photographed. Some highlights of the restoration include: Frame sandblasted and strengthened in weak areas and sprayed with acid etch primer. During the restoration process when the frame was stripped, no body color paint was found- only black paint. Further research revealed a few very early 3000's were shipped with black frames from the factory. The owner decided, in the interest of originality, to finish the frame in black. Entire body sub-structure was rebuilt, straightened where needed and new metal welded in place. Acid etching primer, finished in High Gloss Red body color. Doors, Wings, Hood, and Boot are all original to the car and have been carefully restored. Any body repairs were in welded steel. Suspension system has all been dis-assembled, cleaned and painted. All bushings and moving parts are new. Front and rear springs, shocks, all linkages are new. Entire Brake system was replaced with new components. Standard friction materials were used. The Engine was rebuilt with new bearings, rings, original bore was retained. All wear parts were replaced. The engine was balanced and blueprinted. Cylinder head was rebuilt with new stronger (non-leaded fuel) valves. SU carbs were rebuilt by Joe Curto Inc, and are the originals. The transmission and rare electric overdrive were rebuilt. During the assembly process the owner requested a Rallye / Touring capable car. Most of the fasteners used were stainless steel. The car was finished in Healey Red with a Black Leather interior. The top, tonneau, and complete interior were all new. The trunk is also finished correctly. We have the correct side plexiglass curtains. The chrome wire Wheels and tires are new. The entire restoration exceeded $90,000 in receipts and was finally completed in April 2002. The car has driven in numerous tours and events and shows slight wear from limited use. This is a well sorted, very reliable car which can be driven anywhere. The car’s history was highlighted in Moss Motors British Motoring Winter 2008.
