Vehicle Detail
1978 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 84,000 original miles NO RUST vehicle Original 2F motor, just completely rebuilt, top and bottom, in Oct Original 4 speed transmission Has had a repaint in original Mustard Yellow All original body panels Front seats have been recovered in factory gray vinyl Original rubber full front floor mat Restored WARN 8274 winch WARN front locking hubs Original Toyota Landcruiser steel wheels NEW 9.50 All Terrain tires (5) New front U joints NEW radiator installed in July NEW HFS front bumper Rancho 5000 shocks New clutch and brake master cylinders, just installed Rear heater (small leak in the rear heater core, otherwise it is restored and the fan works fine) ALL ORIGINAL SMOG EQUIPMENT IS INTACT and INSTALLED in the truck I have for the vehicle... -NEW Toyota weatherstripping (still in the Toyota packages) -All S/S bolts for the exterior of the truck (hinges, mirrors, etc) -Round rear view mirror to match the one on the truck (it needs another rectangular one to be correct) -the original front non-locking hubs -original FJ40 dash with one small crack, not currently installed in the truck -original FJ40 door panels to replace the ones in the truck (a few small tears in the ones IN the truck, replacements are perfect) -NEW aftermarket window channels -various other bits and pieces Cruiser lived its life in MT and ID, hence the complete lack of rust. This truck runs like a dream, pulls very strong. No smoke and NO LEAKS from the freshly rebuilt motor. Motor had new rings, rod bearings, and cylinder head was overhauled with new valves, etc. I just drove it to Bend, OR and back (over 1000 miles) in the snow, everything worked great. Driving over MT Hood, I never came out of 4th gear. MPG...One point to make.... on the way down to OR I got 17.6 mpg and coming back.. 16.5 mpg. Now before anybody throws the BS flag, my speedo reads almost exactly 20% LOW. At about 50mph INDICATED, I am doing almost 60 mph ACTUAL. I verified this with another new car, AND with a stopwatch using mile markers on the Interstate, AND with known distances compared to my FJ40 odometer. The CORRECTED mpg was exactly what I quoted above, verified on 2 different legs of the trip. My only assumption is possibly later model higher rear end gearing has been installed in the past. Easy enough to verify by jacking her up and counting the revs on the driveshaft vs the rear tires, but I havent had time to do it, and I'm out of town. I'll check it in a few days. I would not state this if it wasn't what I observed....I was very pleasantly surprised! This is my second 40 and 6th Cruiser overall. I am looking for a mid-2000's 100 series for the wife. I also have my 90 FJ62 for sale, also RUST FREE and excellent condition. Have probably left out a few things, but will add if I think of them. Any questions please call me 253-219-1908 (I am currently on EAST COAST time except on weekends, so pls dont call me at 1am!!) or email at rdphil@comcast.net. This is a rock solid, really nice FJ40! Thanks! On Dec-15-10 at 19:16:30 PST, seller added the following information: Remembered a few things..... Truck is for sale locally, so the auction could end subject to ebay rules. Also, tires on some photos are 31x10.50 Mud Terrains. The tires on the truck now are the 9.50 All Terrains, just so there is no confusion. Also failed to mention the vintage Con-Ferr safari roof rack that goes with the truck. Have restored Toyota jack mounted under the driver's seat. "Original" AM/FM/8 Track stereo!! Dash pads HAVE NOT been trimmed, so its at least a period radio (not hooked up, so I cant say if it works, and no speakers) Factory side window defroster vents Windshield washer fluid pump inop right now, I have not had time to troubleshoot Missing one rear jump seat restraining strap (the little strap that holds it in the UP position, easily replaced by a bungee cord) Custom heavy duty trailer hitch welded to the frame Headliner intact with one small tear On Dec-15-10 at 19:41:13 PST, seller added the following information: I MAY consider delivering (driving) the FJ to WA, ID, OR, or northern CA (Sacramento/Bay area) for reimbursement of gas and a few bucks for food, but it would have to be AFTER mid-Jan...AND, it would have to be to a city with a good sized airport so I can get back to Seattle.. Just in case it would help out....;)
