Vehicle Detail

SO, I'm not the photographer I thought I was... (or so I'm being told). Relisted with (hopefully) more viewable pics and a lower start price is a very rare opportunity to grab what is fast becoming the holy grail of Seventies biker teens. Most XL 125s were bought for kids who then proceeded to wreck both themselves and the bikes. Not so here. As the license frame tells, this has been a local Orange County Ca bike (rust free mostly) all its life and it wants to stay that way. I bought it a couple of years ago with the intent of avoiding all those huge gasoline prices as I went to the gym and back, well, you know how that goes... I have health issues now that are making a move out of Ca inevitable and the bike wants to stay. Frankly I only added about 200 miles to the odometer the whole time I've owned it. Enough about me, let's talk about the bike. It hadn't been run in a year or so (Sta-Bil in the tank, thoroughly recommended) but when I rolled it out last week, and after I had remembered to switch the ignition key to "on" (red dot). It started right up. I rode it down the block and back and it seemed fine, a little jerky at first but after it warmed up, great. In the past I have had this bike up to 50, no problem although that's getting close to its maximum. It's great around town/traffic, no good for freeways. Shifts great, brakes good etc. There's NO rust in the tank, the side panels are made from plastic and the lugs always fail (I had a 73 CB175 back in the day, same deal). They have been repaired by the prior owner with epoxy so that's not an issue but it's something I thought I'd point out. I even have the orig. tool kit. I posted a couple of pics of (first) the tank ding, it's about the size of a silver dollar and will probably pop up if you were to take it to a professional. It looks to me like it is the result of "garage rash" as this bike has never been down. If you have any questions I'll answer them but if you look carefully, you'll answer most of them yourself. I just hosed the dust off the bike prior to taking these pics so if it looks dirty still, it is. I took a "walk around" video while it's running but you'll need to request that. And (second) what appears to be a stress crease in the seat. I have been riding this bike (as mentioned) and it hasn't gotten any worse but I believe it's better to disclose everything on the front end. It's a 33 year old bike with 2800 miles on the clock so no, there's no warranty, it's "as is, where is" (which is the city of Orange). I can help deliver anywhere within 100 miles but I have some time constraints, I will be gone from Dec 13th through Jan 15th so the successful buyer should call to schedule. Crating I don't do but I can deliver to a local Forward Air terminal, (after Jan 15th) I think they do it but you'll need to arrange that if needed. If you are a local buyer (in OC) and you have a truck, tie downs and some help, we can still coordinate this in time for Christmas. If not, it'll be mid Jan. In the pics, (while editing down) I found a small hole in the exhaust at the end. I went out to the garage to check and sure enough, there's a hole about 1/8" dia there, looks like it was hidden by duct tape in the past hence the old glue on the pipe. I didn't mention the tires, they are great. Lights, blinkers etc all work. The bike has a recent (1 yr old) 6volt battery but as one can imagine without use, it's shot. So I am throwing in a free new battery with acid (it's never been activated) . I have a Clymer manual for the winner and I think whoever gets this classic "spoiled kid" toy will be a happy guy. I’ve got the pink slip somewhere in the garage, if I find it at listing end it’ll go with, if not, a bill of sale. This shows as a 78 but was first registered in 77. On a side note, with all that's going on, this would be a great "bug out" vehicle, EMP proof and getting about 100MPG, off road capable. Just add a luggage rack for your MREs. Usual message: Non paying bidders will be shot and negative feedback posted. If you have ever tried to get my bank data to send me twenty million USD from Nigeria, I don't want to hear from you. 949-6nine8-six zerotwo7 the name's Mike (sorry about that, the bots keep calling me) leave a message and I'll call you back.
