**************************************************************** ORIGINAL, UN-RESTORED 1925 FORD MODEL T COUPE. MUSEUM OWNED FOR 35 YEARS. I'm not sure if this is a good time to list this or not, being so close to Christmas. If it doesn't sell, I'll probably relist in next Spring after the weather warms up..... If the new buyer lives in a severe winter weather area, the car can remain safely stored here for up to 4 months (at no charge) until shipping can be arranged. (Car must be fully paid for first!) Located in Bakersfield, California approx 1.5 hours north of Los Angeles. Inspections and test drives are encouraged. Come see it in person! GARAGE KEPT SINCE NEW. STOCK, "AS BUILT" CONDITION. NEVER WRECKED. NO RUST. SOLID WOOD & BODY FACTORY ORIGINAL 1925 TOP, HEADLINER, ETC. ORIGINAL ENGINE STARTS EASY. RUNS GOOD. (You just don't find Model T's like this anymore!) Tired of those cold winter tours with your old car club? Enclosed cars are a LOT warmer than open cars, and this one even has a heater! This 1925 Model T Coupe is a garage kept, rust and accident free car with a known history since it was new. It has survived the years in remarkable condition and is in running/driving condition. (Read the car's complete history further below.) This Coupe was part of a Ford Museum collection for over 35 years and was seen by thousands of people while it was on display. Except for normal maintenance and minimal preservation efforts, the car is pretty much the same today as when it left Henry Ford's factory 85 years ago! This car has survived the years in good shape because somebody loved it and took care of it. Most Model T's of this age were driven to death during the 1920's - 1930's and then left outside to rust for fifty years until they were finally rescued and "restored". You rarely find Model T's which are truly in "original" condition like this! Please do not bid on this car if you intend to alter or modify it. This is a survivor car which deserves to be preserved! Place a bid, or "Buy It Now" THE CAR'S HISTORY: This car originally belonged to Buster Fullmer of Marshalltown, Iowa. Mr. Fullmer sold the car to the second owner, Edward Towe, on April 2, 1960 for $400. Mr. Towe was a long time Ford collector and owner of the Towe Ford Museum in Deer Lodge Montana. Mr. Towe loaded the car on his trailer and took it back to his museum in Montana where it was displayed with all the other old Fords in his collection. During the 1980's, this car, (and approx 100 other Fords from the Towe collection,) was transported from Montana to Old Town Sacramento where it was put on indoor display in the new Towe Ford Museum. In 1997, after a long running dispute with the IRS over back taxes owed, Mr. Towe was forced to sell his entire car collection containing all of the 300+ Fords that he had collected over a 40 year period. This car was auctioned off, and although I bid on it, I was not the winner. Several years later, the man who bought this car at the auction got the itch to build a street rod and decided to put the coupe up for sale. I was one of the first persons to see the ad and was able to buy the car. In December 2005, I received a letter from Mr. Towe telling about the car's history. Mr. Towe, (who is now in his late 90's) still retained all the records from his former cars and stated in his letter that he only used the car a few times for short trips and Sunday tours. He said that he never remembered having to do any repairs to the car and he never restored it. CURRENT CONDITION: The car is pretty much the same today as when it was purchased in 1960 by the Towe Ford Museum. It starts easily and is fun to drive. Except for normal maintenance and preservation efforts, and the replacement of a few worn or missing items, (tires, hoses, seat covers, hubcaps etc.) this is pretty much an original car that is just as Henry built it. The battery is fresh, the car is driveable, and I have the title in MY name! The car's history and condition indicate that it is a fairly low mileage vehicle which has been used sparingly and was well taken care of. This coupe was never equipped with a speedometer, (speedometers were optional equipment) so the actual mileage is unknown. Ebay requires a mileage to be listed, so I entered 999999, which is NOT the actual milage. There are no major dents in the body, but there are a few ripples, small dings and an area on the front fender where a previous owner straingtened out a dent. The paint is still very shiny, but it does have scratches, scrapes and chips from use and age. This is a very presentable car as is. Every fender, door, hood, trunk lid, apron, running board and body panel appears to have been on THIS car since it was new, except for the drivers rear fender which was replaced with an N.O.S. (New Old Stock) Ford fender by the previous owner because of a small dent! This car is rust free because it was always garaged and was not driven in bad weather. The underside of the fenders, hood and running boards still shine with the original 85 year old black paint! All of the handles, knobs, instruments, switches, locks etc look original and don't appear to have ever been changed. There is a 1920's era accessory hot air heater on the passenger side floorboard with a sliding door to let in the hot air coming off of the motor. The original 1925 top, headliner, wood bows, upper carpet, seat padding, windows, etc are in remarkable condition and are a testament to the car having been kept inside. Notice the fabric style and corner details of the original top. Restored tops NEVER look this way! The floor carpet, door panel fabric and seat covers were replaced sometime prior to the car being sold to the museum, probably during the 1950's. The car was listed by the museum as having the original paint, but after careful examination, I believe it was carefully masked and resprayed on the outside only. The engine runs like a stock Model T, and the 6 volt starter cranks over easily. The battery is fresh, and the engine generally starts quickly and idles smoothly, even after sitting for many months. The transmission is quiet (for a Model T) and shifts well. The transmission cover drips oil and could use a new gasket. The cooling system seems to be tight with no water leakage and the original round tube radiator cools surprisingly well considering how hot it gets here. The ammeter registers good current output and all of the lights work. The original owner installed an additional gas tank in the trunk of the car during the gas shortage days of WW2. It has since been removed, but the extra holes have not been repaired. The man I bought the car from installed a brand new original style gas tank under the seat, which is sparkling clean inside and out. This tank is one of the few reproduction parts on the car. The brakes all seem to work well and the accessory rear brake shoes have actual brake lining which works much better than the original metal to metal factory shoes. There is a 50+ year old BB hole in the upper portion of the windshield which could use replacing. The car is due for some general maintenence before any long trips, but is drivable around town as is. Although I've really enjoyed owning and driving this car over the years, our growing family now makes a two person coupe un-practical. We're looking to purchase a 1925 Tudor sedan in similar condition so we can all fit into it! (Any leads on a nice Tudor sedan are appreciated!) GOOD LUCK BIDDING!
