Vehicle Detail

I am offering for sale my very original 1955 Ford Customline Sedan. This little beauty was with its original owners (an elderly couple) until about 7 years ago. I am the third owner, and have enjoyed this great little car for almost 3 years. I have too many cars, and this is one that has to go! The black paint is mostly original and looks great! When I bought this car, I made the decision not to paint it simply because it presents itself so well as an original...and as they say, "they're only original once"! This vehicle is solid and virtually rust free. The one exception is a rust spot about the size of a half dollar in the very bottom of the passenger's front fender. So the main body of the car is free of rust. My advise to a would be buyer considering a repaint, would be to replace that fender...at that point the car would be rust free. Of course there is no bondo anywhere. The original chrome and stainless is very nice. One of the photos shows a small "ding" in one of the stainless strips....I am showing ding because its the worst flaw to the stainless strips on the entire car. Inside the vehicle, is a very nice NOS and original interior. Notice in the photos how nicely the dash shows up. The dash is completely original. The door panels are original as well and in excellent condition. Recently, I located NOS fabric and vinyl for the seats. I replaced the carpeting at the same time. I do have a brand new headliner in the box that I have not installed. Of course, the headliner goes with the car. The interior looks fantastic! When I removed the carpeting, I found a very solid floorboard with shiny black paint, not a speck of rust, and the original braided wiring in its channels where it belongs, looking like new! All window glass is in great shape, with all the Ford emblems. The rubber weatherstripping is soft and keeps out the wind and rain. The trunk is excellent on the inside. The original trunk matt was dry rotted, so I removed it and added a new one. Just like the interior, the trunk floor is shiny black and solid without a speck of rust. At that time I changed the two fiber board panels, replacing the original ones that showed very little wear. The car has the original wind-up clock that still works. The original radio is in its place, but there is no speaker. The previous owner removed the heater motor, but I have not installed. I do have the motor however. The previous owner also provided me with an electric windshield wiper motor...also not installed....I never take my cars out in the rain. The previous owner converted to 12 volts and added dual exhaust. A drawtite hitch was added years ago. My understanding is that the original owners added it to accomodate a rack for a wheelchair. Since owning this Ford, I have accumulated 2000 trouble free miles. The total mileage is 79,900 and its easy to see that this is original. The mileage is not documented, but you just know!!!! It moves effortlessly at 70 miles per hour and is very economical to run. The little six is strong and peppy. The engine has never overheated. This past year, my Ford and one of my others was commissioned by Disney in the making of the recently released movie "Secretariat". I do have documentation. Also, this past month my Ford received a "top 25" award at an "all Ford" show at the local Ford dealership! The long and short of it is...this is a fine little original antique car that can be enjoyed as is or improved. No nightmares or money pit here, I can assure you! Classic cars are escalating in price very rapidly. It is very difficult to find a nice antique vehicle these days for under five figures. I am offering this one at $7300.00. Please call David at (337) 237-6074 with any questions....or email at dlmmds@cox.net. I am located in Lafayette, La where I-10 meets 1-49...convenient for your transporter! Deposit of $500.00 at close of auction. Payment by Paypal, wire transfer, or cashiers check due within seven days of close of auction.
