Vehicle Detail

History 1999 was the last year of the convertible in the E36 body style (other body styles having stopped in 1998), and this is a very nice example. Sold new to a doctor in Lincoln, NE, I purchased the car as a two year old CPO (Certified Pre-Owned) from the local dealer when the car had less than 20k miles. Since then it has had an oil change with BMW synthetic every 5k, except for the past few years when I started changing the oil annually as we were driving it less than 5k/year. Other fluids were changed per BMW recommendations. It’s one of 8 BMW’s I have owned (1 of 4 E36’s) over the past 25+ years. Options Has the usual options like A/C, cruise control, power steering, power windows and leather interior, plus heated seats, multi-disc CD changer, and side air bags. With the 2.5-liter engine it’s no rocket, but has that great BMW 6 torque and sound, and the 5 speed makes for a fun back road touring machine. Modifications When having a “nose job” repaint done to remove rock chips and road rash from all of our road trips, I elected to replace the front bumper cover with the “M” spec version as I think it looks better. At that time I removed the factory fog lights (wiring is still there) as I got tired of replacing them due to breakage. Additional paintwork was recently done on the right rear quarter to remove a bumper scrape. The car has been in no accidents as far as I know, but I like to keep my cars looking their best, hence the paintwork. Also, there’s a mount for a Motorola Startac (remember those?) on the console, but it looks like it can be removed without leaving any holes. Other than that the car is factory stock. Condition It’s not a show car, but presents very well. The interior has no tears, but does show some surface wear on the driver’s seat. The convertible top is original and is in good condition. It runs and drives well, with no known mechanical problems, and just had the battery replaced. Tires are Michelins, with about 70% tread left. On the Kelly Blue Book scale I’d rate the car somewhere between Good and Excellent. In the 9 years with me, it’s been covered and stored in a heated garage, but we did drive it year round the first several years so I can’t claim it’s never seen rain or snow. Terms of sale: Sold as is, without Warranty express or implied. $500 deposit due within 3 days of auction end, balance, in cash or certified funds, upon pickup of car. I can store the car for a short while (like a month or two) if need be. I will not make shipping arrangements for you, but will reasonably assist a shipping company you choose. Please don’t ask for trades, I’m looking to have fewer cars, not the same or more. Please email for more information, or to make arrangements to view the car. I do have it for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end this auction early.
