Vehicle Detail

Beautiful 1987 Mercedes Benz 560SL two-seat sports car with the classic German styling. Runs very well. A/C, heater, cruise control, power windows all work fine. Paint is great; so is the clear coat (redone in original teal green color in 2004 and touched up in 2009). Can it roar down the road? A powerful V-8 engine propels this pocket rocket as fast as you want to go! We have owned this little gem since 2004 and have put 17,000 miles on it. We've restored this Benz, and it looks fabulous. I've had new carpeting installed (camel-colored interior), new floor mats-MB, new leather seat covers, new burlwood on the console and dash, new dash cap (the old cap had cracked, and the original is HTF and expensive. The dash cap looks great), new seat belt buckles, new driver's window seals, new rear light, new radio antenna. The original Bosch radio is in the trunk. An owner before me installed a CD-playing Sony in its place. The chrome is all original except for the rear bumper and the strip under the driver's door. What this means is that the original chrome looks a little cloudy. The hard top is in excellent condition inside and out. We have a hard top holder that's a rack on wheels, padded, and a bag to go over the whole thing that we will pass on to the next owner. The soft top is great on the outside--no rips or tears in the black canvas and the plastic windows are all intact. But on the ceiling inside the soft top, the vinyl or leather sheaths for the support ribs have pretty much disintegrated. (This doesn't interfere with the function of the soft top.) The ceiling itself is okay, but the coverings for the metal bars are shredded/not there. Also the metal framework for the soft top supports shows some corrosion spots. The seats are well-padded and comfortable, even for long distances. The car has a driver's air bag. To the best of my knowledge, it is intact and never deployed. A Mercedes manual for this model is included, as is the special tool for changing the hard top to soft top. The car takes premium gasoline. Reason for selling: Since we moved, we no longer have a garage in which to keep the car clean, safe, and dry. The carport isn't enough, so it makes sense to me to pass this lovely Benz on to someone who can keep it stored as it deserves. The car has always run. Repairs have mostly been maintenance. List of repairs: 2005: New paint and clear coat, new window brush, antenna motor, A/C blower motor, and passenger floorpan. 2006: New ceramic brake pads. 2007: Replaced lamda control unit, a water pump, a lamp lens, crank seal, 2 gaskets, return hose, cruise module, and tie rod. 2008. Replaced a turn signal fuse, carpet, seat covers, cockpit floor insulation, vacuum elements, recirculation switch, and washer pump. 2009: Car had hail damage which was all repaired via an insurance claim. New windshield, new back chrome bumper. Dents removed and paint retouched. 2010: Three seals replaced, new power antenna, new fuel pump relay. You are welcome to make arrangements with me to see and drive the car before buying. Please e-mail questions; I'll be happy to answer.
