Vehicle Detail
For sale is a 1981 Honda Silverwing Interstate, model GL500. I believe there was a Silverwing and a Silverwing Interstate this year, and this one is the Interstate. Bike starts and runs great, and everything works exactly as it should. This auction is for a quick sale, as I need to empty the garage before winter. Very low reserve. Please ask any questions at all. I like to be completely honest and forthright with no surprises whenever I sell something, so I tried to list items below. Here are the flaws: -On left side of bike, it looks like the prior owner had let it fall down on left side. Small parts of fairing on left side are scraped, and two parts are cracked, and the left side bag is scratched good. I tried to show some of this in one of the pics closeup of the left side of fairing. Does not affect overall look, and fairing and bike are still straight and good - these are cosmetic only. Two of the chrome pieces on left are scratched, but I was able to shine them so they are not very visible. -One of the carb drain hoses has a bit of gas that drips out when bike is running. I think it may be the float or the carb drain seal, but have not investigated it at all. I might try to dig into it if I have time this week, and if so, will update the auction. Bike runs beautifully even with this. -Seat has two tears - only in front driver seat. Hard to see in pics since black tape was used to cover the tears just to protect foam from weather. Rear passenger seat is great. -gas tank has two small indentations on right side. Hard to see from a few feet away. Here are the highlights: -Aside from the items noted above, bike looks really nice for a 1981. See pics.-Inside of gas tank is like new (many bikes this age get rust - this one does not) -Bike runs and start very nice.-Exhaust and rims are very nice. Exhaust has NO RUST at all.-Tires are good. -All electrics work as they should. -Brand new battery about 1 month ago.-New windshield this season. -Highway pegs. -Radio (in left glove box) and speakers - very nice when riding around. Works fine. -Clear title.-Original key works for all parts - ignition, gas tank, helmet locks, side cases. Aside from the cosmetic items (left side fairing, and seat tears), this bike is strong, smooth, and is a great rider. If you don't mind a few cosmetic items, you probably will not find a better bike for the money. Only serious bidders please bid. Don’t take well to deadbeats. Very low reserve. Bid and see. At close of auction, high bidder must pay $250 via paypal within 24 hours. You can then pay via cash in person or rest via paypal, with 7 days. Bike will need to be picked up near Libertyville, IL. If you are having it shipped, I will help load it with shipper, and working out a pickup time with the shipper, but bike must still be paid for in full within 7 days as noted. Ask any questions at all. If you are local, you are welcome to come by and take a look. There are no returns, no guarantees, and no warranties at all. I am not a dealer and this is a used bike (a nice one at that !). Thanks for looking, and good luck bidding ! On Nov-09-10 at 17:53:44 PST, seller added the following information: Here is a short video of the bike running. On Nov-12-10 at 13:49:14 PST, seller added the following information: A buyer asked about how this bike ran at lower idle (around 600 rpm). Specification for normal idle is 1,100 rpm, but I lowered the idle screw all the way down to around 600 rpm. She runs great at this rpm also. I read somewhere online that this is a sign tha carbs are synced nicely. I provided the video below showing it running under these conditions.. Sound is not the best with my camera, but you get the drift.
