Vehicle Detail

For sale is my 1960 Dart Phoenix Convertible. I bought it years ago to restore but never found the time. I partially disassembled it and boxed and labeled the parts I removed. The previous owner inherited the car from his deceased relative and the car sat. He then started a restoration by having the motor, 318 4bbl, and 3 speed auto pushbutton trans professionally rebuilt. He also had some of the brake lines replaced, but did not rebuild the wheel cylinders or shoes, so, no brakes. He then gave up. I bought it because I love these extremely rare cars, ( I own a beautiful D 500 convertible ) and planned a mild custom, but other projects got in the way, and frankly I have too many toys, plus I am pushing 70 yrs old and my wife says no way am I starting another project! The good: This car is extremely rare. It runs, and I do run it around my property from time to time to keep it loose and lubed. The motor has not even been properly broken in yet. I have changed oil and filter, and anti freeze. The interior chrome is in good shape, not concours, but nothing to be ashamed of. The exterior chrome is mixed, some good, some not so much. The car sits level and does not sag! The bad: The body has the usual rust issues with this model. The front fenders are bad around the headlights and the rear lower quarters need repair. The drivers side floor has a hole and should be treated to a readily available patch panel. The rest of the floors including the trunk are rusty but probably could be saved. I have replacement front fenders, rear quarters, ( from Arizona ), and new rocker patch panels, from Shermans, which I do not believe are available any longer. However, I am listing the car at a very low starting price for a vehicle this rare, so the fenders, quarters, and rockers are NOT included in the auction. I will make them available at fair market prices if the winning bidder is interested. Otherwise I will list and auction separately. I also have rebuilt heavy duty 11" brakes complete with new wheel cylinders and shoes boxed and ready to go if the buyer would like to purchase separately. The car has NO seats or door panels. The old top, which I removed, had leaked and the seats and panels were shot. My intention was to either install a custom interior, or preferably a 4 bucket seat and full length console from a ' 66 Charger. In short, what you get is a body with a running matching motor and trans, lots of trim parts, but not all of the side trim, and the basis of an extremely rare and cool car in need of a TOTAL RESTORATION. You will look long and far to find another. Please, if you are not able to do a large portion of the work yourself, or do not have the cash to pay someone else to do it, save us both the trouble and don't bid. On the other hand, if you want something different than just another ' 57 Chevy or Camaro, this is your opportunity! I believe just the glass, convertible top, and hood and trunk lid are worth the starting price, never mind the engine/trans. Any questions, ask and I will answer best I can.
