Vehicle Detail
You are looking at a hard to find 1975 TS400 2 Stoke street and trail motorcycle. I bought this at the beginning of the summer with the intent to keep it. I really do not need to sell it but if the price is right it will be yours. This motorcycle has been in this area all its life. When I bought it the original owner was sitting 3 houses down on his porch. I will quess I am the 4th owner. The guy I bought it from was using it quite often for transportation. It was inspected until June 2010. Thats when I bought it and did not have the need to put it on the road since I have a crotch rocket. Now for the bike, it is almost all original. I did replace a few things with either nos or oem parts. The only part on the bike that I am not sure if it is an oem part is the left mirror. He told me his son broke it so he replaced it. He also broke the clutch lever and replaced it with a lever from another bike. I took that off and bought a used clutch perch and lever off of ebay that was on a ts400. The perch and the lever are from different bikes so the colors are a little off. A few weeks after I bought the bike my brother in law dropped it in the driveway, he wasn't moving but broke the rear turn signal and the lens on the front. I had the rear turn signal unit totally replaced with a NOS part that alone was 70bucks. I then bought four OEM lens covers for this bike that was 40 bucks. I would put one on the NOS turn signal unit to match the other because the one on it looks brand new. The wheels are very nice and the tires have a lot of tread left. The bike has NO dents. It has the normal wear and tear being a 35 year old bike. As you can see in the pics the paint is pealing back from the front fender. Overall this is in very good shape for the age and mileage. The back piece you see on the first pic is included I took that off because I thought it was ugly. I will also give you the oem lenses and if you want the old signal you can have it. I cleaned this bike up a little and used a non scratch scotch pad to clean off some of the chrome. I also pulled the carb off and cleaned it. I ran much better with it cleaned. If I had the time I would just rebuild the carb but it is definitely not needed. Everything Works!! All lights, tach, speedo, neutral, turn, and high beam indicator. I put new bulbs in two turn signals and indicator lights on the tach. With these old bikes you have the turn the light on yourself and the high/low beams works. One thing that I did not replace at this time is the switch to turn the headlight on and off. It still works fine, just the little "knob" that is on the switch broke off. There is still plastic for the switch sticking up that you can use. Not a big deal. If you want to restore this bike a few things that I would do.... replace the front fork seals. They do not leak a lot at all but could be replaced. As I mentioned before I would rebuild the carb, again not needed though. Replace the headlight on/off switch, again not needed. Some of the chrome has the normal "pitting" or "oxidation"?? It did clean up nice but there are just a few small rust areas. I would put a new ring in the gas on/off/reserve valve. It is getting old and if you do not turn the gas off it will leak out. I don't want to make this sound bad but I want to be honest. All of this is very minor and hardly any cost involved. I forgot the mention the oil tank strap rotted and I did not get one for it yet. I bought an oem strap for the battery already because he had string to hold it in. The oil tank takes the same strap. I paid less than 10 bucks for it. Also, a few weeks ago I took the bike for a ride and a bolt came loose that holds the oil cover on. I could not find the pieces. It was a bolt, spacer and two rubber washers. Again this in not a big deal. You can put a bolt in it to hold for now until you find the parts. I would check into cleaning the tank also. It some some of the oxidation, I am not sure if you can tell from the pic. It does not get a lot of dirt and rust in the filter but I just wanted to let you know. Because of its age it does have rust in the normal areas where the welds are. The worst is on the swingarm between the motor and tire, See pic. It also has the normal rust covering the front part of the exhaust. There are also two bolts that are not original. One is used to hold the battery cover on and the other is on the upper exhaust. I think the rubber spacer/mount rotted so the guy just used washers and another bolt to hold it in place. Again, this is much nicer than most you see on here and I may be making it sound bad but trust me this is a nice bike for its age! Most the bikes I look at on here I can see many issues that are not mentioned. Once you ride the bike it will start right back up with one or two kicks. I had it sitting for a month and it took a few extra kicks. I am not sure if you even need to choke it. When I started it I turned the choke on for two kicks but due to the rubber seal going bad on the on/off/reserve on the tank I think I flooded it. I turned the choke off and the gas off then kick it a few times and it started right up. I put a quick video of my bike running through the yard on youtube right after I started it. I also have a walk around vid. I will post the links...... but if it does not work my user ID for youtube is zhirocz89. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LndejZh1V1w http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxkhkNidISU&NR=1 The bike runs strong and would make a very easy restore. I will show the bike to anyone who is willing to come and take a look. Remember this is 35 years old and there is no waranty with the bike. No refunds but you will not be disappointed. There was one just like this on here within 30 minutes of me that had much more rust and non original parts. They were asking what my reserve price is. I would much prefer local pick up so we could also take care of the title. If you set up the shipping and cover all costs associated I will ship it and send you the title after I take care of the transfer at the notary. I would also prefer cash, cashiers check or money order upon pick up. A non refundable deposit of $100.00 dollars is due within one week of the autions end. This can be done through pay pal. If you have an questions please ask. This is the first vehicle I have sold on here. Do not low ball me or send me emails telling me about the bike. The reserve is $1,500.00. I am located in central pennsylvania. Approx 40min east of state college (Penn State), 45-55 min north of Harrisburg, 35 minutes south of williamsport. These bikes are hard to find especially the large 400cc. Many of them are here are the small 125, 185 or 250cc. Thanks for looking and good luck!!On Nov-03-10 at 20:57:42 PDT, seller added the following information:Thank you for everyone that is interested. Please remember I would like to sell to US only but if you are from another country you MUST take care of any extra cost involved and know how to take care of the title. Email me! Also, if I am available anyone can come take a look at it in person. Just remember this bike is 35 years old. I hear of too many people buying stuff that is junk, doesn't run, things broken that were not mentioned or just lied. I'll start it up and if you have your motorcycle license you may take it for a short ride although I would feel safer if I do it. The video of the ride posted was the last I rode it, it was parked right in the garage afterwards.
