Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is the real deal 1969/70 Sandcast Honda Cb750. Frame number cb750-1002903 and engine number cb750e-1003032, the original and correct matching set. I also have a clear title for the bike. The previous owner had the bike for quite some time, most of it just sitting. He pulled it out this summer to get it running again and the motor wouldnt turn over. He said he greased the motor to get it to roll. Frustrated it still wouldnt turn over so he decided to sell. Thats when I got the bike. When I realized it was a sandcast, I decided to do some research before turning any wrenches. It appears to have all the early goodies- sandcast motor, double cut front fender, left hand horn, wrinkled neck tank, 9 hole clutch cover, ducktailed seat, plastic gauges, color-matched airbox- although poorly painted black, black knob on right bar control, plastic chain guard, 4-1 cabled carbs, number 8 bolts all over, and I'm sure theres probably 20 more things that I dont know about. I did find a stamp on top the motor next to a blue sticker- 6-18 , day and month I would assume. Overall for a forty year old bike I'd say its in pretty respectable condition. Previous owner couldnt find the side covers and said the exhaust was garbage so I dont have those. All I have for the bike is what you see in the pictures. In doing my research I did find about the weak engine cases. I looked over all the mount points and I see no damage. I took off the oil filter and cover to see if it had been over-tightened and I see no damage. I also took off the shifter cover and sprocket cover to see if the chain had done any damage. Someone had installed a shield type piece in front of the sprocket. There looks to be no damage, just some wear marks from where this shield rested. I have taken a picture of this area as it seems to be a common problem. Also a picture of the shield which was installed probably to prevent this problem. The bike will need a lot of work- but from what I've read thats what collectors do to these bikes. The motor still doesnt roll over. I tried a few times with the kickstart but left it at that. The transmission shifts through all the gears. The bike pushes and rolls easily. I have given the bike a bath and put the original master cylinder back on. Previous owner had a different master cylinder on it but gave me the original so I put it on. Otherwise, this is how I bought it. Usually I do part bikes out to make some extra money. After some reading about the sandcast hondas, I'd much rather see it go to someone who restores or collects these. I appreciate and respect what history this bike has and what it did for motorcycling. Some bikes just cant be parted out. This is one of them. I'm sure I will get a fair share of questions and I will do my best to answer them promptly and accurately. This is a NO RESERVE auction. Please remember this is a forty year old motorcycle and has dents dings and scratches as you would/should expect. It does not run. I DO have a clear title for the bike. A restorers dream which looks to be missing very little. If you have any questions please ask as all sales are final with no warranty.
