1988 VW Volkswagen Cabriolet Convertible (**Karmann edition) Color - Tornado Red (**Original paint that looks new) 4-cyl 1.8 Liter Front wheel drive Automatic Power Steering AM/ FM Stereo Cassette Rear window defogger 108,000 Original miles *Just smoged and registered….Passed with flying colors, better then a new car. I recently bought this VW convertible from an elderly gentleman at the retirement community where I work and it has been garaged since new. It is an original California car with not a speck of rust anywhere that was purchased from a dealership (Capitol Volkswagen) in San Jose California and has spent its whole life in San Jose California where I purchased it. This car run’s, shifts and drives great. Every button, horn, handle and even the buzzer when you leave the door open works like new. All of the glass is clear and looks new. All of the weather stripping is still soft with no rips or tears. The dash is in mint condition and all of the gauges work perfect. The original black vinyl convertible top with white liner and rear glass window has no rips or tears and is in mint condition. The original black leather boot that covers the convertible top when it is down is still soft and it is in great condition. The interior is in perfect condition except for the left side of the driver seat that is starting to fray in a small area. The exterior is in mint condition except for two small areas. One area on the driver’s side rear corner where it looks like there was a small dent that was repaired and the color does not quite match. It is only noticeable if you point it out to someone. The second area is a dent in the middle of the front bumper and a dented and cracked bumper cover. It is not as noticeable with the front license plate frame installed. Other then those phew minor items that I listed this convertible is in perfect condition and looks like it has been kept in a time capsule. *The reserve is set at $2200On Oct-30-10 at 15:09:13 PDT, seller added the following information: Update 10-30-2010 ***I forgot to mention that the car does have factory A/C but it needs to be recharged. ***Today 10-30-2010 I had the valve cover gasket replaced and the oil change.
