Vehicle Detail
Introduction This is a 1996 Volkswagen Jetta GLX, with the strong VR6 engine beloved by hobbyists. The exterior is rough, but not too bad (see photos), the interior is actually pretty nice for its age, and the leather seats are very comfortable. The car is a blast to drive -- very sporty, great handling and suspension. It feels like a sports car, and, in its day, it was. I had a lot of fun with this car, but I have other transportation now and no time to fix it up again. Condition Pros: Engine is strong, no known issues Brand new clutch, less than a thousand miles Brand new tires (Falken Ziex ZE-912), less than five hundred miles Good interior Cons: The clutch slave cylinder needs to be bled before it will run (about $50) There is some larger problem that requires this be done every week or so; it will need to be diagnosed and repaired (probably about $100-200) The exterior is a little rough The cruise control doesn't work The check engine light is on, but this is true of almost all Jettas this age Conclusion This is a really neat, fun car that needs a little love immediately. It will need to be towed somewhere to bleed the slave cylinder, which is very inexpensive. (My mechanic does it for $30, but prices vary.) After that it'll run great! However, there is a problem that requires the cylinder to be bled about weekly. That will need to be diagnosed and repaired. I don't know how much it might cost, but since the clutch is good for sure (brand new), I would guess less than $200. This is the only real catch, here. The car is, of course, sold as is. I'm offering it very cheap, and my personal feeling is that anyone willing to take it and fix it up is going to have a great, fun car for a song. Good luck! Photos Front: Rear: Engine: Int.
