I am an Ivy League graduate. I am in my mid-30s. I am a serious fellow, and I've been on the national and local TV news giving unpaid and unsolicited financial market commentary; also been in major national newspapers and magazines doing the same. Most recently, I was quoted in AARP magazine. There is nothing being hidden about this car, as so many people do. You don't get 100% positive feedback over 11 years of registration by hiding things. If there is something you should know about this car of which I am aware, it's available to you in the auction. I go out of my way to make sure people are satisfied. Look at my specific feedback...look how the guy who bought the truck recently said, "You can trust Seth with your eyes closed." I work hard to make sure I get comments like that; I don't take it lightly, and it means a tremendous amount to me. I look forward to getting to know you if you'd like me to (or if you'd like to buy the car without me getting to know you, that's OK too!)! The car: You are bidding on a 2002 VW Jetta TDI Diesel with an automatic transmission and leather Interior. The sub-model is "GLS" which means it has leather, real wheels instead of wheel covers, etc., and is generally more nicely equipped than the average Jetta or Jetta TDI for that matter. The car runs and drives great. The tires look OK with a superficial glance, but really they are dryrotted and noisy and should be replaced. This is an 8 year old car and there are nicks and scratches as you'd expect. It was clearly well taken care of. The seats are in excellent condition and the leather is supple, and and the rest of the interior is extremely nice as well...door panels, rear window sill, floormats, etc. Please watch the entire video below as very briefly you'll get a chance to "know" me and more importantly I will walk you through the car and show you a road test. -- no reserve -- no reserve -- no reserve -- no reserve -- no reserve -- NO MINIMUM BID -- THE TOP BIDDER WINS VW Jetta window switches often pop out This car is no exception, so you'll need to replace the driver's and passenger side buttons for the driver to use. In the meantime, as you'll see in the video, if you stick your pinky finger in where the switch toggles go, you can operate the 2 front windows just fine...someone with a tiny finger can even have an easier time than I had. The air conditioning and heat fan blows air, but the AC is not getting cold. I turned the compressor by hand it rotates, which is a good sign. I never tried adding freon, which may be all it needs. I have a policy of not doing any mechanical work on cars -- I leave it to the new owner to do that because everyone has a preference of how they want to get work done or sometimes they prefer to do it themselves and people would rather pay less for a car than get something with a jacked-up price. Same goes for the check engine light. That is on sometimes (or most of the time?), but it doensn't seem to effect the operation of the car at all, and I've never checked what the code is. It's wise to get it checked out, because if something were to be indicated that does inhibit the operation of the car, you wouldn't know it's something new because the light would already be illuminated -- after all, there's just one light. The head light lenses are faded, but I am sure you can get those "renewed." They even do that at car washes these days, where they sand them down and buff them for ~$20. They are still usable they way they are...it's only if you wan them to be even brighter. All the interior and exterior lights, including courtesy lights work. The tiny housing for the passenger door door-open safety light is a bit loose as pictured. Turn signals, wipers, etc., all work. All buttons work. The car is completely reliable and I would not hesitate to drive it cross-country, right now. It looks like the left front fender was repainted although I can't figure out why...maybe it got dented in a parking lot. Use the combination of the photos, videos and text for full disclosure, with more emphasis on the photos and videos as the description is not intended to be exhaustive. As eBay says, a single picture is worth a thousand words. I have been registered on eBay for close to 11 years and have 100% positive feedback. Any questions, message me through the eBay messaging system, and I will answer promptly, or you can call me at (Five-Six-One) Three-76-Two-Two-Seven-Nine. The following slideshow automatically displays the first 100 of the ~500 available pictures. That's just a Photo Bucket limitation...to view the rest of them, right-click on the "View all" at the bottom right of the slideshow and select open in new tab or window: (The album is not finished uploading yet....I will have to add it in a revision to the auction later, which will show up down below.) I will also post a demonstration videos of the car in an update revision to the auction...it is a big file and also isn't finished uploading yet. AUCTION RULES: Full payment is due within within 7 calendar days of auction ending by either cash in-person or bank wire only. It contains 460+ photographs, but only automatically displays the first 100 of them. That's just a Photo Bucket limitation of the slideshow view. To view the rest of them, right-click on the View All on the bottom right of the slideshow and select Open in New Window (or New Tab). Incidentally, that reminds me to mention something important -- in ordering the service records from the Volkswagen dealer, they informed me of some seriously great news for you. They said they will give anyone who owns this car a free new headliner, installed for free at any VW dealer in the country. Why? There is non-safety recall for the drain tubes on the sunroof, which clog and tarnish the headliner. Although this sunroof doesn't leak it may have at one point because you'll see in the photos that the headliner material is missing from the sunroof. I think that's phenomenal that they'll give you a free headliner (of course in addition to replacing the recalled sunroof drain tubes) and install it for free. She offered to do it while I have the car...I'd rather the new owner take advantage of the opportunity. Anyway, without further ado, here's the slideshow (and the video will come in another update): On Oct-15-10 at 01:31:00 PDT, seller added the following information: Here is the video demonstration of the Jetta TDI that I promised you above: On Oct-15-10 at 09:46:48 PDT, seller added the following information: There was an error in the upload of that previous video, so it's not playing. I re-uploaded it, and here it is below this text. The sound quality isn't great, but it's still definitely worth watching: On Oct-16-10 at 18:25:12 PDT, seller added the following information: eBay's system that auto-populates information when you type in your VIN to list a car said this car is a "Convertible" and has "Power Driver's Seat" which are both incorrect pieces of info.On Oct-16-10 at 23:35:23 PDT, seller added the following information: Someone asked me if there is still a factory warranty on this car and whether I offer a warranty. No, there is no factory warranty remaining on the car, and I don't offer any kind of a warranty on anything that I sell, ever, as a matter of policy -- this car is As Is with no warranty.
