Vehicle Detail
This wonderful truck was fully restored by my Great Uncle in 1985. The motor, transmission, rear end and the rest of the drive train was rebuilt. The brake system was changed from the DOT 3 fluid to the DOT 5 non corrosive fluid in 1998 by my dad. The Crank out windshield works like a charm for those warmdays that you want to take a drive and stay cool. The paint color is midnight blue on the outside and I think it was a fire engine red on the inside, but I am not sure. I know they had it re-painted to the factory colors. This Truck was the 97th one made at the Los Angeles plant. After truck number 100, most were shipped over sea's for the military to use for world war II. I think there was only 340 trucks made that year according to the documentation I have pictured here. I know that my uncle said there was only like 34 that he knew of registered in the world in 1989, and 6 of those were on the West coast. I do not know where he got that information from though. When My uncle started the restoration on the truck, it had 14,500 original miles. He reset the speedo to zero in September of 1985. The truck runs and drives great for being 71 years old. And is still a head turner today. If you are buying it for a show truck, you will need to fix the paint job because it is not what is considered "show" quality. There is also a dent and scratch on the driver side front fender where my dad hit it with a lift in his shop(pictured).
