The MR2 was an iconic vehicle and a new innovation for Toyota when the first cars came off the assembly line in Japan in 1985. This particular car is one of the very original 1985 Toyota MR2 rear engine sports cars and I am the original owner. I ordered this car before the first deliveries arrived in the US that year and had it specially delivered from the US Port in Baltimore to a nearby dealer where it was prepped for sale. The color is metallic beige with the black interior. I ordered every option available on this car, include the power package (windows & locks), moon-roof, cruise control, rear spoiler, mudguards, upgraded Toyota stereo and A/C. I had the A/C system changed over to R134a years ago. I also installed a radar detector system. The mileage on this car is 73000. Most of those miles (98% were driven in the first five years). After that the car was started and driven occasionally, but that is about all. It has been either garage kept or in the driveway since. I started the car up yesterday and I fired up just fine. I had to jump it and spray a bit of starter fluid in the filter compartment, but it stared up just like it did 25 years ago. This car hasn't been driven in years, but the last time I had it out, it ran smooth and ran well. The engine was fine, the transmission had no issues and all the electronics were work at that time. I think if the new owner were to fill the tank with fresh gas and change the oil out, they would have a remarkably nice classic sports car. Since I have not actually had it tagged and on the road for so many years, I am selling this car as is, as it sets and with no warranty. If you are bidding on it and you are the winner, you will have to make all the necessary arrangements to have it towed away on a flatbed or come and pick it up yourself. The car is titled and ready to go.This car has a few, what I consider minor issues, that I will list. They are all cosmetic only. First of all, there is a small dent in the left front fender that I never fixed. This car was never in any kind of documented accident. Someone backed out of a parking space into that fender and left the scene before I returned to the car. I was going to pull the dent out myself, but never got around to it. Repairing it will be easy and not expensive. Secondly, the paint has faded a bit over the years, but a good surface conditioning wax job would bring a lot of the great appearance back. There is some rust on the bottom of the rear fender area near the bottom of the bumper, mostly on the driver's side. The sun has caused some deterioration of the interior, but all of it is very restorative. There is small cracked spot on the center armrest and the driver's seat has some minor cracking in the seat area. There is a small piece of (black) plastic trim missing on the floor area near the driver's door. I think I was trying to work on the latch to the fuel cap door, and misplaced it. These are all relatively minor issues when considering the vehicle as a whole. The main thing is, I clearly remember it well, being a fine operating car. Please note: the first picture had some shadows cast on it, that appears to make the front darker in that photo, from the right side. From the other photos, you can see that it is not.Basically, this car in very good shape for a 25 year old vehicle. With a bit of restoration, it can be quickly be brought back to it's original and classic form. GOOD LUCK BIDDING !
