NO RESERVE 1968 One Owner, Unrestored, 84,185 Mile, Loaded Up, California Black Plate, Survivor, Buick Riviera Yes, you read that right. You are looking at a real deal, 84,185 mile, unrestored, one owner Buick Riviera, I am offering at no reserve. While vacationing in Northern California recently, I stumbled upon what I thought no longer existed; a real, one owner, low mile, unrestored, California black plate survivor. You see, back in the summer of '68 Warren Givens of Sacramento, CA felt it was time to reward his school teacher wife, Frances, with a brand new Buick. And she chose a special one. One with nearly every conceiveable option, including the following: 430 cubic inch 360 horsepower Buick V8 engine, automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, automatic climate control, power windows, power seat, remote driver's mirror, tilt wheel, cruise control, white wall tires, am/fm Stereo radio, power antenna, and even the ultra rare speed minder. She chose the classic color combination of White exterior with a Tan vinyl top, over Saddle Tan interior atop the famous Buick Rally Wheels. Frances kept her beloved Riviera factory original, with no modifications whatsoever, and religiously maintained her prized possession at the local Buick dealer over the next 42 years. As the years caught up with Frances, and her realization that her driving days were behind her, she knew it was time to find her "old girl" a new home. When I first saw the old Riv', I was blown away by the originality and preservation of this 42 year old car. Frances had never left the perfect climate of Northern California, and boy did it show. The body is as clean and corrosion free as you would expect it to be. The original Buick lacquer has worn thin in spots but it is as original as they come. Even the factory vinyl top is original and in good condition for its age, showing only minimal wear. The interior, including seats, carpet, headliner, and padded dash are all original. The factory original padded dash shows near mint. I can say the same for the original headliner. The driver's portion of the front power seat is split in one area but could be repaired without consequence. The rear seat appears to never have been sat in. The original carpet is worn, particularly at the drivers foot well, but original! All, and I do mean all power options work without incident. The factory air conditioning, now converted to enviromentally friendly R134A, blows ice cold. The windows, locks, seat, and power antenna function with ease. The factory AM/FM stereo works great. Even the factory cruise control, and speed minder operate flawlessly. The distinctive "hideaway headlights" raise and lower, just as they did back in the Summer of '68. The undercarriage is everything you would expect from a one owner, low mile, CA car, clean and rust free. The engine compartment is as original as they come minus fluids, filters, and battery. Mechanically, this 84,185 original mile Riviera is in excellent operating condition. She starts, drives, and stops on a dime. Literally, the brakes are fantastic! I also just installed a brand new set of Firestone radial tires to complete the package. The only minor mechanical issue is a small exhaust leak on the driver side that is barely noticeable. It does not impede the performance of this great automobile. It truly is a dream to drive. In addition, this one owner Riviera includes all original glove box materials, California "pink" title, and the ultra desireable California black license plates still registered to this unique piece.
