Vehicle Detail
I am listing a gorgeous 300 CD. It has about 155,000 miles on it. This is a southern car. There's no rust on it and never has been to my knowledge. I found this car in Florida. I flew there to purchase it and drove it home 4 years ago. In the last 4 years, I've been nurturing this car toward new condition. It's spent most of its time with me garage kept. It was the same case from the previous owner I bought it from. She hardly ever drove it. This car works as it should. The guages all work. The stereo was replaced with a modern AM/FM/CD with I-pod connection. Original Becker stereo comes with the car. The power sunroof (new skid pads and rubber), & power antenae (new) work perfectly. The car drives great. It does leak some oil, like all diesels, but doesn't burn much. I run synthetic oil in it with Slick 50. It runs crazy strong and will surprise you. Cruising at 85 - 90 miles an hour is nothing for this car. It gets 29 miles per gallon, driving around town; better on the highway. I drove it to Biloxi, Ms., from San Antonio, (600 miles, 1 way) and back last month. Cruise held strong the entire way; no problems. I went for a class reunion. The Mercedes was a great vehicle to show up in. It turns heads and always get comments. The woodgrain on these cars always cracks; the console on this one has been re-laquored. This is a daily driver. I drive it everywhere, everyday. It's reliable. My Mercedes mechanic told me this is the forever car. He's right. It drives better, the more you drive it. I replaced the speedometer on this car. It went wacky. I've got the original. It's at 145,000. I added another 10,000 miles to the mileage on this car because it's been about a year since I replaced it. The replacement has over 200,00 on it. The original speedo is included. I've posted a picture of it where you can see the needle hangs around 40 mph or so. The replacement is correct for the car. There's little numbers at the bottom of the speedometer that correlates to the gear ratio. yada, yada, yada. Both speedos match. Here's the big positives. * It has a new paint job, (less than 3 months old). Original color with clear coat. * Spotless interior, with no rips in the seats. Carpet is super nice, with big mercedes emblem on the floormats. * Air conditioner blows super cold - just redone at the beginning of this summer. * Transmission shifts strong and smoothly. Often the transmissions in these cars starts to stick, not this one. The last things that need a little attention. * Parking brake - I drove it too often with the brake on. * Driver's side rear window seems to be off it's track. This is a super clean car. I'm only selling it because I believe in the "Catch and Release" program with cars. I've had this car; enjoyed it, and am on to my next restoration. I'm already working on the next car. I've got to move the last project out. Call if you want more details. This is a extreme classy classic. It has old world appeal. It's a great "date car." There's virtually nothing left to do to it, but enjoy it. Drive it across county. It'll eat up the miles like candy and beg you to let it really run. My wife thought that driving an old Mercedes was going to be a costly endeavor. I went to a Mercedes mechanic and asked him to recommend a car for me. He told me to buy a 81 - 83 300 CD. He said the engines are bulletproof. They have a turbocharger and the most reliable injection system. He was totally correct. It's a great car. You won't be disappointed. Check out the pictures. They'll tell the story. Joe Stuller 210-823-2943 or josephstuller@hotmail.com
