Vehicle Detail
Here is our 1978 Lincoln Continental Town Car. She has 96k miles on her and is driven daily. We have owned and driven her for the last 2 years dependably (she had 86k on her when we got her). After some initial tinkering and adjustments, she has performed very well and is routinely serviced every 3k miles. She is an absolute joy to drive and has an amazing ride. We just completed a vacation to the outer banks of North Carolina (1,000 mile round trip) over Labor Day. What a way to travel!! On that trip she did use 1 qt of oil. She has also made several trips to central Florida dependably from Atlanta. A/C works fair...may need charged. Just put 2 new tires on the front. Radiator has pinhole leak at top drivers side front. This has not caused any problems even on the hottest days. We put in about a 1/2 gal of coolant a month. She has a very small power steering fluid leak...top off once a month. No trans or engine oil leaks. Ride is smooth and it is amazing how much you can put in it for long trips. We run mid-grade fuel in her and she has no spark knock at all under any load. Exterior is good. She was re-painted by the previous owner and has some flaking on the roof and bumper extensions. Rust was repaired around the rear window area once. It does not leak, but a more professional job would make it look better. Some flaws around trim line show surface rust bubbles. Not through the metal, just paint. NO floor pan or trunk rust at all. She does have some bubbles under the vinyl top, but no soft spots noted. We were going to pull off the vinyl and replace the whole roof with a rust free top (which has a factory sun roof) that was removed from another car. I cut it off the donor car at the opera windows and pillar posts to get the whole thing. It will go with the car if you want it. The interior is wonderfully original and is in great shape. The only 2 things to mention is a seam in the headliner has come apart and a button on the drivers seat has lost it’s cap. The upholstery is still very soft and luxurious! Some of the new items over the last 2 years: partial fuel line, water pump, thermostat & fan, brake master cylinder, fuel pump, heater core, alternator, distributer cap & rotor. We have thoroughly enjoyed her and will hate to see her go, but now we have our eyes on a new toy. Not a show car, but with a little effort, she certainly could be. Again, for us, she has been a nice, solid daily driver and still has a lot still to give. **We do not have a title. In Georgia, vehicles over 25 years old are not required to have one. You will be given a bill of sale and our current registration card. Please check with your state's DMV about registration without a title before bidding***
