Vehicle Detail

You're looking at a 1986 Jeep CJ-7 in very nice condition. This Jeep is capable of being a daily driver. It is being driven by me almost daily now. It is a rust free Jeep that has been well cared for and properly maintained through the years with the goal of keeping it original. So as things were replaced, or the Jeep was painted, it was done to match the original Jeep. No lifts, no cutting of the wheel wells, no lifts, no mods, no holes cut in the dash for aftermarket gauges or switches...just an original CJ. The Jeep itself has 137k miles on the odometer, but the motor was rebuilt (actually a re-manufactured motor) at 119k miles and the transmission just after that. So the motor and transmission have right at 18k miles on them. Mechanically the Jeep is in excellent condition. It does not burn or drip any oil. The drip marks on the pavement are from another vehicle because the pictures were taken in a public parking lot, this Jeep doesn't drip any oil. It starts immediately every time. The transmission shifts smoothly through all gears and the clutch is smooth as well. There is a pop noise that can be heard from time to time if you engine brake or aren't smooth when you down shift/up shift. If you drive the Jeep smoothly, you rarely hear the pop. It sounds exactly what a bad U-joint would cause, however, both U-joints on the drive shaft have been replaced and the noise prevails. It sounds like it's coming from the front of the drive shaft, not the rear. I've had two different mechanics look at it and both said they'd just have to look deeper into what it is and didn't recommend doing it. Call me if you want to discuss if you need more details. The only other thing the Jeep needs is a heater blend box. It is the box under the dash that diverts the heat between the floor and the defrost. The little door that actually diverts the air is broken off. The door could probably be fix or welded. Or just put another whole blend box on it. Either way it is a simple fix. The two problems mentioned above are the only issues I know of with the Jeep. It is really in very rare condition...just a really nice CJ. Brakes are tight and smooth and stop the Jeep very well. All gauges, including the gas gauge, work like they should. Headlights, taillights and turn signals all work like they should. It drives great with little to no play in the steering. You can drive this Jeep down the interstate at 65 mph with no wobble, sway or wander. It drives as good as any original CJ you will find. It has the 2.5 liter motor and the 4-speed manual transmission. Please don't let the 4cyl scare you away. I've driven and owned other CJ's with the 258 straight 6 motor and this Jeep drives better than one did and is comparable to the other. The straight 6 isn't that much more power. And as mentioned earlier, this Jeep drives as nice as any original CJ you are going to find. Included with the Jeep are 4 tops: hard top with full hard doors (pictured in 3 of the pics). The hard top is in excellent condition with no cracks or fade and the doors are excellent as well. Windows roll up and down great. Also included: tan colored bestop duster top never even put on the Jeep. It's brand new. A tan bestop bikini top in excellent shape, and a tan bestop full soft top with soft doors. It's in great shape as well...just needs one seem repaired on the right rear window. The interior tub is rhino-lined on the inside (real rhino-liner, not the do-it-yourself type). Again, NO rust on the body or frame of this Jeep. The tub was NOT rhino lined to cover rust. This is probably as rust-free any CJ as any out there. It's solid all the way around, body and frame, and has never had body work done to cover or repair rust. The Jeep was repainted the original color 2 years ago. It was take down to the bare metal and done right. The dash panel, doors, etc...were taken apart when painted and it is a professional job. Paint alone cost $3500. It is beautiful. It looks white in some of the pictures but it is actually cream colored. The sun was so bright it washed out the pictures that have the hard top on in them. No dents, dings or scratches worth mentioning. The seats, front and rear, were new in 2002 and are in great condition without rips or tears. Both front seats recline (have adjustable backrests) which is very nice. Tires are like new with less than 5,000 miles on them. Again, the pictures are nice, but really don't do the Jeep justice. If you're looking for an unmolested, original CJ, you probably won't find one nicer than this unless it's had a frame off, nut and bolt restoration...in which case you'd be paying double what I'm asking. Feel free to call with any questions. Well worth your time to come see this one if you're close enough. If you buy the Jeep and it isn't what I say it is, you are under no obligation to buy it. The $200 deposit, however, is non-refundable. Clear, clean SC title in hand. No games here. Call (864) 404-5471 with questions or to set a time to come see it.
