Vehicle Detail
This car was listed previously as a 1966. That was incorrect. The car is a 1965 and I decided to end the previous auction and relist. I also did a better job sorting through the pieces. I cleaned them up and took some new pics. So please scroll through all pics. 1965 Mustang fastback!! This car belonged to a good friend of mine in High School. He bought it in the early 90's and a (somewhat amateur) restoration had been done on it in the '80s. Car looked awesome when he got it! He got in a minor fender bender in 1993 (hit the trailer hitch of a truck with the right front). When he started on the body work he got over-zealous and decided it was time for a full-scale restoration. He pulled the motor and had it rebuilt. I have receipts for all machine work and parts. It was done by Richards Automotive in St. Clair Shores, MI. They were one of the best machine shops around but they went out of business a few years back. It's bored .040 over and has flat top pistons and a high volume oil pump. It also has an Edelbrock Performer 289 intake, Holley 600 double pump carb, and a Speed Pro Cam made by Sealed Power (p#CS-1020R). Motor receipts total well over $1000 of 1993 money. Trans is a C4 and was rebuilt in 1989 by the previous owner according to some markings on it. He also bought an aftermarket RF fender, hood and passenger door skin. He bought a NOS Ford Grill and NOS headlight bezels and buckets, as well as an NOS front cowl or valance, or whatever the part is called behind the bumper. Has some new emblems as well. None of these body parts were ever installed. But all come with it. He slowly lost interest and the car sat for 17 years. I kept bugging him to sell it to me with the plans of completing it. Now that he finally sold it to me I realize I am in way over my head and need to get the car to someone who has the skills and funds to properly finish it. Car and all components have been stored inside this entire time and the motor was covered in plastic and is on an engine stand, which I can include if it helps with transporting. Motor and trans are original and numbers matching to the car. It is a 2+2 model. It has the Pony interior which was restored with OEM parts during the first restoration. Full guage package on the dash. I have been told that this gauge cluster is in fact from a 1966. Nice center console. Clean wood rim steering wheel. Rear and passenger seat in excellent condition. Drivers seat is seperated at a seam, and has a crack in the seat frame near where it mounts to the floor. Needs headliner, carpet, and minor repair to drivers seat vinyl but otherwise is complete and pretty clean. Even has a crack free dash pad! There is much more than what is pictured. It's all there. New floors were welded in at some point, and a small patch was done in the far right front corner of the subframe after the accident. I have detailed pics of everything. Anything you don't see in the listing please feel free to ask for more pics and I'll send them to you. If I don't have them already, I'll take them. There are various spots of typical rust that will need to be repaired but the body is over all solid. All glass including windshield is good. Gas tank is included and is solid. Again, some stuff didn't make it in the pics but ITS ALL THERE, with exception of some little trim pieces and what not. I've now taken better pics. I hope this helps. Even have the dual exhaust with factory manifolds and chrome tips, but you'll probably build a new exhaust anyway. It's got some aftermarket 14"mags with BFG Radial T/As that were pretty new before it sat. It also comes with the stock wheel covers in good shape. I know these cars alright, but I am not an expert. So if I've said anything that doesn't make sense, I apologize. I will do my best to answer and questions you have. Feel free to come see the car in person if you are local. Feel free to call me as well if I can answer any questions. Steve 313-269-6090 Pick up and shipping is up to you but I'll help as much as possible, within reason. door tag code reads "63B R 66 07S 33 6 6" This means the car was built in Dearborn on May 7th 1965. It was sent to the Detroit district sales office. It is a fastback with luxury interior and bucket seats. It came with a 289-2V and a C4 automatic. 2.80:1 axle. And it was originally Ivy Green with black crinkle all vinyl interior. Clear MI title. Good luck bidding!! On Sep-30-10 at 16:15:14 PDT, seller added the following information: A lot of people have asked questions about rust underneath and about the condition of the motor. THE MOTOR HAS NEVER BEEN RUN AFTER BEING REBUILT. IT HAS SAT IN A GARAGE ON AN ENGINE STAND. IT HAS BEEN TURNED PERIODICALLY. IT DOES HAVE A LIGHT COATING OF OIL. AS MENTIONED THE FLOOR BOARDS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. THE FRONT FRAME RAILS HAVE BEEN RE-ENFORCED. THE REAR FRAME RAILS PAST THE WHEELS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. THE REAR TORQUE BOXES HAVE BEEN RE-ENFORCED. ALL WELDING IS VERY PROFESSIONALLY DONE. SOME FINISH WORK IS STILL NEEDED TO COMPLETE AND SEAL THESE REPAIRS.
