I am in my mid-30s. I am a serious fellow, and I've been on the national and local TV news giving unpaid and unsolicited financial market commentary; also been in major national newspapers and magazines doing the same. I let you know all this not to somehow impress you (not that it necessarily would), but rather to demonstrate that I have a reputation to uphold, which I also rely on for business purposes. There is nothing being hidden about this car, as so many people do. You don't get 100% positive feedback over 11 years of registration by hiding things. If there is something you should know about this car of which I am aware, it's available to you in the auction. I go out of my way to make sure people are satisfied. Look at my specific feedback...look how the guy who bought the truck recently said, "You can trust Seth with your eyes closed." I work hard to make sure I get comments like that; I don't take it lightly, and it means a lot to me. I look forward to getting to know you if you'd like me to (or if you'd like to buy the car without me getting to know you, that's OK too!)! The car: You are bidding on a 1968 MG Convertible. It is an MGB. The car runs and drives great. It shifts through every gear great. The brakes are sticking a bit...the car hasn't been used much in the last couple months. The 1968 Florida license plate attached to the car does not go with the car, nor do the parts/books you see in the trunk briefly in the video. The car does come with a spare wire wheel/tire and hub wrench. There is no jack present...recommendation: buy one at a parts store for $18 to tide you over until you get an original. The battery holds its charged, even when you leave the battery connected for months without starting it, and the MG starts right up even after that long without running....no starting fluid nor choking needed. The air cleaners for the dual carburetors come with the car...they are stored in the trunk for when you want to remount them. The car needs paint and some body work. Some of the body work done in the previous restoration was done with lead body filler, which is now peeling away, primarily visible on the driver's side rear fender. The engine leaks a bit of oil. You can see on the floor of the garage in some photos it made a small oil spot....that was with about 1 week of sitting in the same place. The doors were replaced at some point with those from another car. The seats are not original MG seats; they are not slideable back forth, but they do recline and fold forward and are much more comfortable than the original seats. The top is in good condition but very dirty. I started to clean the mildew stains off the convertible top vinyl with cleaner, and it was taking a lot of elbow grease and I got tired. So, then I decided to focus on 1/2 of the top just to demonstrate a contrast to show that it could be cleaned. Then that much area got too tiresome, so I decided to focus on a 10" x 3" near the front edge of the passenger side to show the contrast from clean to dirty. This area does look really clean, so with some work you can clean the entire vinyl, and the convertible clear window plastics look pretty good the way they are. I've driven the car 60 miles in the last few days and its been fine. It hasn't let me down, or sputtered. The previous owner told me it's reliable, which has been borne out as true. I know the fellow, and he's an honest guy so I didn't have a doubt about that anyhow. I was driving highway speed a number of times and I smelled brake burn at one point, though I drove it subsequently at that speed multiple times and didn't smell anything, and never did I see brake smoke. The brakes pull a bit to one side when you brake hard...it's not safe to leave them like that, and, for the record I can't recommend driving the car in this state. You can see I felt OK doing it myself though in the video as a personal decision. Given that it pulls on hard braking, it may just be one wheel cylinder or caliper that's sticking. This is such a great car, and everyone loves looking at it and makes comments about how they really want it. What a great sound it generates too with the exhaust it has...it has a good sporty and throaty sound. It's a prime candidate to just take right over to the body shop and get it back in a few days looking like an immaculate new car. Make the brakes perfect and you have a tremendous runner! Or just do the brakes without the body work and you have a petina-esque 42 year old runner! All lights are working, including reverse lights, with the exception of the interior courtesy light. The original radio "MG" delete/blank is in the trunk if you want to pull out the radio. I never tried the radio to see if it works. There's an antenna...I didn't look closely enough to see speakers, but I think I remember hearing static at some point and turning the radio volume down which eliminated it. The dashboard instrument lights work great. Speedometer, tachometer, odometer and trip meter are all working great, as are oil pressure gauge and temp. Occasionally the left signal clinker doesn't work, but you can jiggle the wand it and starts working again. This is a 42 year old car...not a brand new car. It has quirks and doesn't feel like a new car. It doesn't have power brakes, nor power steering. It needs to be gone through again to be thoroughly reliable. That said, if I were buying it myself, knowing what I know and how it feels, I'd be personally comfortable driving it a couple hundred miles as it stands. That's just me...you are required to form your own opinion not influenced by mine. Other than the brakes, there seems to be no blaring mechanical issue....the engine runs great, transmission is great. The tires are a bit low on air from sitting, as visible in the photos, and need to be pumped up a bit, but I don't have an tire air pump nor time to take the B out just to pump up the tires. The aftermarket horn button actives a compressor which I can hear turn on, but it doesn't honk the horns; not sure what the issue is there. I never tried the heater.
