Vehicle Detail

this is a 1970 BMW 2002 survivor car. never updated with racing seats, Weber carbs or Bilstein shocks. it's pretty much the same as it was the day it rolled off the assembly line forty years ago. is it a show car? hell no...but is it a sweet weekender? absolutely. i found it in California eight years ago, had it trucked over to me and it has never even seen so much as one rain drop since i got it. upon receiving it i had some valve work done, a complete tune up and replaced all the hoses. i have put just five thousand miles on it which brings it to just a little under 83,000 miles as of today. it runs fantastic, although a little on the warm side during slightly longer highway trips which is why i chose to use it as a weekend/around town car and not a daily driver in the summer. (i'm sure a new radiator/cooling system could have solved this but i really wanted to keep it original) it's got the less exciting, yet more rare, automatic transmission which brings me to describe the few most notable flaws: the transmission gasket has a slight leak and since i drive it so infrequently i chose to simply park over an oil change pan to catch the fluid and then top it off before i drove it next, and the chrome on the plastic shift surround is blistered and peeling. also, the driver side seatbelt is pretty beat up but it's functional as a lap belt which is how i used it. it's got it's share of 40 year old car knicks and dings but no dash or seat cracks and none of the usual shock tower or spare tire well problems so previlent with this model. while i've been as up-front about this car as i can, i am not the original owner nor a mechanic so there may be issues that i am unaware of and that have proven to not be an issue while in my posession. i would prefer to sell locally so as to not have it delivered farther away solely to be accussed of misrepresenting it or understating it's flaws but am willing to sell to the highest bidder where ever that person may be. finally, i don't have to sell it, i work a lot of hours leaving little time to dust it off and drive it, i simply want it to be owned by someone that can appreciate it more than i have time to so please don't e-mail with extremely low offers. and to those that bid the first time this was listed, thanks for the interest. UPDATE: i drove the car around the neighborhood today and noticed some noise from the front brakes (slight scraping?) i'm sure it's a simple "brake job" type repair but i don't want to spend the money on a repair knowing i'm trying to sell it so i am re-listing it without a reserve. this super-rad little piece of history is going to the highest bidder and will probably sell well below it's fair market value. and if you've sent e-mails the last time it was listed and i was slow to responde, i'm very sorry but my business has kept me busier than usual, which is part of the reason i want this car to have a new home.
