Vehicle Detail

Early 1962 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 Roadster complete with original lightweight factory hardtop. Highly original matching numbers XKE in stunning Opalescent Gunmetal Metallic with black interior, carpeting, and soft top. currently 67,742 original miles. One California owner until 2008 when new Coker 3/8" Redline tires were installed, all maintenance addressed, and all fluids were changed. One professional respray to original factory color, including factory hardtop, in April 2009 by Wes Neeley Paintworks in National City, CA. All rubber seals inspected or replaced following paint, new tires, new OEM dash, new clutch master and slave, rebuilt brake system and carburetors, water pump, hoses, recored radiator, and new fuel pump. Compression test passed at 160,160,165,165,163, and 167. I have never found any rust- it was an inland California car for almost all of its life- now in a climate controlled garage. Runs and drives comfortably, fast and reliable, smooth quiet transmission, and plenty of power with the original higher output 9:1 compression ratio engine. Continuous paperwork ownership back to CA registration July 31st, 1962 and outstanding condition throughout. Complete with originally optioned hardtop, wire spare, original jack, Jaguar Heritage Certificate, "E" Type maintenance chart, all receipts and invoices, complete Jaguar 3.8 Service Manual, Owners workshop manual, E-type operating, maintenance and service handbook, and Porter's originality guide. Freshly serviced and Jaguar Club member owned. Car, engine, body, and gearbox numbers all original per Builders Plate and Heritage Certificate. In 2008, the main E-type invoices were the new soft-top invoice for $347.94, Wes Neeley Paintworks $7,300 (friendship price break), Coker Tire $603.02, San Marcos Polishing and Plating $642, Heritage Motorsports rebuild carbs $913.44, and XK's Unlimited many small minor parts total $916.08. The correct matching the Builders plate and Heritage Certificate VIN/chassis # is stamped on the tubular framework above the right front shock absorber. The optional glass-fibre hardtop is original to this car, it only weighs about 45 pounds so I placed it on the XKE by myself for the photos and didn't tighten it down, it can fit better than the pictures show and comes with all of the original chrome hardware, bolts, chrome guttering, rear perspex window and surround. Side mirrors were US dealer installed options for 1962 so for originality they were not installed following the professional respray in April 2009. I have the removed original bullet style side mirror from this E-type in a box and two new chrome wing mirrors from Moss Motors which were not installed because of originality, a cleaner look, and they are unnecessary. I think any body shop could put the two new mirrors on this XKE in an hour if you desire. The black soft top is brand new from Moss Motors. No tonneau- not spec'd on the Heritage Certificate. The carpet floor, toe boards, and sides of tunnel are in good shape, their are protective jaguar embossed rubber mats over the floorboard carpets in the photos. The floors are rust free. The seats are made of grained vinyl which is correct for 1962. The chrome strips in the trunk are all intact along with the hinged arm baggage restraint, the strips are the correct chrome channels with black rubber inserts and appear to be 48 years old. Yes I have all the paperwork to prove this car had one owner, including California application for registration July 31st, 1962 and original State of California Registration card issued 08/15/1962 until 2008 and now my clear, free title in hand. The Jaguar Heritage Certificate lists the same original 45 year owner also. Shipping fees and all of the arrangements are the buyers responsibilty, I will assist by driving the E-type up to two hours from my home to your shipper. There is lens flare or water on the lens in some pictures, there are no issues with the front right bonnet paint, it is flawless. Hard to find in this condition and can be used and enjoyed immediately. Disclosing the reserve and buy-it-now are not options. Please do not bid more money than you can accumulate within 7 days of the auction close. This auction will end Saturday evening.
