I’m auctioning my 1998 Lumina POLICE car project. I simply lost interest. I bought this car last fall from a dealer in New Hampshire. He acquired from a small New Hampshire police dept. The vehicle was used as either a detective’s car or an unmarked cruiser. It is NOT drilled full of holes like most police cars. There is only one hole drilled in the trunk lid for an antenna which now has a vinyl cap. It has between 106,000 and 107,000 actual miles. These cars are getting harder and harder to find, especially with low mileage and not beat up. The condition of the car as well as the beige interior color makes this one RARE. Most of these were made with a blue interior. Also, they only put the more powerful 3.8 engine in the police car and the LTZ model. The police model comes with a heavy duty suspension, larger alternator, vinyl floor coverings instead of carpeting, and a completely different dash configuration as compared to all other Lumina types. The speedometer is digital and is “certified” as marked to be very accurate. The other differences include full “police” hubcaps which are also sought after by collectors and an extra dome light for writing those nasty speeding tickets at night. The car also has a set of flashing wig-wag red lights mounted to the underside of the trunk lid. These turn on automatically when the trunk is opened. I’m also including a variety of police equipment that I have been collecting over the past couple of years. Some of it was very hard to get and is not readily available today. Pictured are a NEW set of side mirror overlays with built-in red and blue lights, a complete in car Panasonic video system which includes camera, wiring harness, and a VCR that’s housed in a fire proof, vandal proof, crash proof stainless lockable box that will mount in the trunk. The winning bidder will also receive a police partition (Setina), side window bars (NEW), a set of police center caps if you like that look, a police center console with laptop mount and NEW bumper push bars. Please don’t ask to separate this equipment. It all will go to the auction winner. The car runs and drives great with NO issues. The transmission shifts smooth. I just installed new brakes and rotors on all 4 corners. It has current Pennsylvania inspection, good tires, and a fresh oil change. There are no leaks. Also, the air conditioning blows cold. The body has the normal door dings and some surface rust here and there and is in no way perfect. As you can see from the pictures, both side doors have peeling paint. This was a problem for a lot of white cars for some reason. The new owner should be able to have them touched up fairly reasonably.
