Vehicle Detail
This is a truly rare find. I am the second owner of this 1982 Mercedes 300CD Turbo Diesel Coupe W123 (Original paint, MB color code 684 Pastel Beige). It currently has 164,000 miles on the odometer and has been a California car its entire life. The original owner ordered this car for the spring of 1982 because it was the first year Mercedes put the 3-Liter turbo-charged diesel engine in the gorgeous 300CD coupe. He scheduled this car for the European delivery, where you can pick up the car in Germany at the factory and still drive it while on vacation in Europe. He then had the car shipped to California where he kept it in flawless condition. He was extremely thorough with the maintenance and upkeep - it was always garaged, and it shows. I purchased it from him in December 2007. Since then, I have only improved upon its great condition. The wood is like brand new with but one minor chip on the clear-coat. The Air Conditioning blows COLD , very cold, which is a good thing and a rare in these cars. The dashboard is flawless, the headliner is clean and the all the gauges are working precisely the way they should, including the clock and the tachometer, which is rare. The sunroof and all the windows are working perfectly, especially the back windows, which when down give the car a wide open feel. This car has always been serviced to the highest standard (Hi-Tech Auto in Silverlake, CA) and I have no problem with having it checked out by a mechanic of your choice. It runs terrific and it has tons of pick-up, shifting smoothly through all gears. Speaking of which, I had the transmission rebuilt 400 miles ago by Hi-Tech and it shifts literally flawlessly. I do have all the receipts as well . There are no oil leaks of any kind and it is up to date with all the services. The front brakes are completely new. The tires are Michelins and have roughly 6,000 babied miles on them, they’re pretty much like-new. The body of this car is in excellent condition and there is not a hint of rust or damage of any kind; the car has never been in an accident, been garaged it’s entire life and the paint is factory original. Other than the minor flaws of daily use – it otherwise looks like it has been in a time capsule. With only 164k miles it would make a great and practical investment which you can drive every day. It gets 28 mpg and as it’s coupe appearance dictates it is also very fast and fun to drive. The following is a list of what I've done to improve upon perfection, most notably making it environmentally awesome! Items I’ve added to improve upon perfection: - BIO-DIESEL conversion from LoveCraft ($750) – it can run on any combination of filtered waste oil, bio-diesel or diesel of any kind. (I am selling a veggie barrel and have all information on how to get waste oil delivered to your house for $2 a gallon.) - Bilstein shocks all around. The best you can get and the ride and handling prove it. - Rebuilt transmission from Hi-Tech motors in Silverlake. - New brakes, brake lines. Everything about the brakes are flawless. - New Alpine stereo with CD player and iPod adapter discretely in glove box which also charges iPod. Focal speakers and an appropriately sized subwoofer in trunk makes perfect low-end bass to complete the package. It sounds awesome. - Very light tint on windows that are 99% UV proof, protecting both your skin and the car’s interior. - Interstate battery, again, the best there is. -New Michelin tires all around . I love it. It’s been unbelievably reliable, fun to drive and looks like a work of art. Wish I didn’t have to sell it, but a baby on the way has changed my priorities. Shipping is the responsibility of buyer, but I will assist in getting car to shipping location. Car is for sale locally. I reserve the right to end this sale early if sold before end of auction. It will be sold as is and where is and without a warranty . I did up load o lot more pictures and they might take a little while to load , so please be patient . Thank you for looking at my auction and good luck bidding!
