Vehicle Detail
July 1963, Ian Fleeming's second James Bond's film "From Russia With Love" is number one at the box office, Jan and Dean's "Surf City" is number one on the pop charts and Chevrolet's Janesville, Wisconsin assembly plant is putting the finishing touches on a real factory coded 922 Ember Red lacquer paint with Red vinyl interior, V-8 powered Impala convertible, GM code 1867. Local UAW 95 workers added the following factory options: Chevy's tried and trued Powerglide transmission, Power Steering, White Convertible Power Top, Padded Dash, AM Radio, and Soft Ray Glass. Fast forward forty seven years. Recently released from the previous owner of thirteen years, we present you the same Red on Red Impala convertible with a mere 92,675 original miles. Over the course of ownership the original 283 complete engine was removed, and saved, (comes with sale of car), and updated with a NOS Chevrolet 350 cubic inch long block. Additional upgrades included electric cooling fans (keeps car running cool during parades), electronic ignition, factory dual exhaust, and one inch whitewall radial tires sporting SS hubcaps. Original pwerglide, exhaust manifolds, power steering set up, radiator and shroud were retained for originality. Day Two Edelbrock open element air cleaner, and Chevrolet valve covers completed the package. History includes a mid 80's restoration. Twenty five years later, the car is showing it's age. Not a fresh restoration but a a great "parade or cruise night car" and also deserving of a fresh restoration. Remenber, this is a factory Ember Red on Red convertible. This unique Impala retains all original factory options, GM applied "spackle paint" still in trunk, along with with factory jack and spare tire. Recently released from long term storage, the following maintenance includes: fresh fluids and a new battery on a car with less than 700 miles on the engine swap. The more she is driven the better she runs. The power convertible top motor is present and non-functional however, the top goes up and down manually with ease. The boot is present and in great shape but the top will need a new zipper installed for the back window. Along with the sale, comes the original 283, two barrel engine, a folder full of maintenance and service receipts documenting the car's history and original GM keys. We encourage any and all prospective bidders to inspect this unique Impala at any time during the auction. I have over 75 photos documenting this vehicle available at any interested party's request. Feel free to contact Tom at 630-337-3481 to schedule an appointment or answer any questions that you may have. We are happy to assist the winning bidder with shipping arrangements. I reserve the right to end this auction early, as this great car is for sale locally as well.
