Vehicle Detail

FOR SALE 1996 Chevy C-1500 Pickup Truck Short Bed VIN# 1GCEC14R8TZ178265. This is a one owner vehicle. I purchased this truck in November 1996. It has been the greatest truck I personally have ever owned. I would keep it and fix it up as a hot rod but it is just sitting in the driveway being moved around from time to time. This is one of those deals where I keep telling my wife, “I’m waiting on the extra money”. But, more than likely I will never get to it. Here is the scoop on this truck: It has 202,500 on the odometer. At 153,000 miles I put a new, from the dealership, OEM Transmission. The truck has never been in an accident and the only incident is when my wife was trying to back up a trailer without me home, go figure, and jack knifed the trailer which cracked the fiberglass at the rear of the truck on the passenger side. See photo. The truck needs motor work and here is why. At 204,000 miles it had a rough idle which my brother in law diagnosed as a burnt valve. So, my brother in law and I decided to rebuild the engine. We tore the engine all the way down to the block and checked the cylinder walls which looked very good and then starting rebuilding. We put lots new parts on the engine rebuilding it all the way back out. I put new rebuild heads, water pump, you name it and most likely it was replaced. After we finished it had the same rough idle that it had before we started. Somewhat aggravated with the brother in law’s answer of “sometimes that stuff happens”, I took it to the Chevy dealership for a diagnosis. They said the engine needed a whole new set of injectors and the something they call a spider. Said, it would be $2,200.00 for parts and installation. At this point, I have already spent like $850.00 rebuilding an engine that probably only needed that damn Injectors Kit. So anyway, I got the hook up on the spider and only paid $650.00 and had my brother in law put it in. I know right now your thinking haven’t I learned anything yet, but I guess not. He did install the spider injector kit and the truck started up and ran like a champ. About 1 day after the truck was running like a champ the oil pressure dropped to almost zero. My daughter was driving it from downtown Atlanta and didn’t notice the gage showing an almost zero oil pressure. When she pulled into the driveway and I could hear a small knocking in the engine. I call my brother in law who said, “The oil pressure dropped most likely because it need one of two things. Either it needs crank shaft bearings or cam shat bearings, and he also said “sometimes that stuff happens”. I almost needed a deliberator to restart my heart. Well, by now, I’m over it, and have now spent over what I could have bought a new create motor for. More about the truck: White, Step side with a grey interior. Other than the needed motor work is in great shape. Everyone has always commented that they can’t believe it is a 1996. PW, PL, Cruses Control, Intermediate Wipers, AM – FM CD Player with 1000 Watt Amplifier, and more. This truck is sold AS IS.........
