Vehicle Detail
***1968 CAMARO 42K MILES 327 V-8 WITH SPECIAL PAINT*** ***RUNS AND DRIVES GREAT*** ***VERY ORIGINAL UNMOLESTED CAR*** *** MATCHING NUMBERS 327 V-8 ENGINE*** This is a 1968 Chevy Camaro coupe in a special ordered paint accented with a black vinyl top and rally wheels on T/A radials. The special paint looks silver/gray/green - I recall a Corvette with special paint on the data tag that looked just like this car's color. A previous owner (sign is pictured below) told us that the car was a one owner when he purchased it and that the 42K miles is original. Of course with a vehicle that is over 40 years old we have no way to verify what he told us but then he has no reason to lie about the car since he no longer owns it. The engine is a 327 that is the original matching number one with a two-barrel carburetor and 210 horsepower. Transmission is a PowerGlide and the car has power steering. This car runs and drives like it did when new. It runs down the interstate easily at 70 - suspension and steering are nice and tight. Interior has bucket seats and a console with floor shifter. The original AM radio is still in the dash. The dash has not been cut up. In fact this is a very original car - it even has the single exhaust with the muffler behind the rear end. If you are looking for a nice original early Camaro or a really good solid one to build to a higher level you should take a close look at this one. The owner is a buddy who asked me to list the car for him - he has too many cars and not enough garage space. Email me if you would like to talk to him or set up a time to see the car. The car looks like it has been repainted once and the vinyl top has been replaced. The body is straight and solid. This is a really nice original car. Trim and chrome are original and have aged. Glass is all good and I saw no chips or damage. It has the antenna on the passenger side in the back. The gas cap is an old locking one. Body is straight and smooth. It has rally wheels with BF Goodrich T/A tires in P205X70X14 Side glass is aligned right. Car has a nice body and could easily be taken to a higher level. Grill is black. Bumpers have aged over the years. Trunk opens and closes easily. Rear quarters are original. We believe all the sheet metal may be original to the car. Interior is black with bucket seats and shifter in the console. Dash pad is in great shape with no damage. You can see the carpet has faded some and could be dyed. Car has all the seat belts including the shoulder harnesses still attached to the clips in the headliner. Looks like the driver seat has more wear than the passenger one. Classic early Camaro interior Back seat has all the seat belts required in 1968 Switches and speedometer A previous owner told us the miles were original - 42,867 - the speedometer and odometer work. The title was changed in 2005 and at that time the car had 41,872 miles so it was driven less than 1000 miles in the last 5 years. Gas gauge works (note full tank) and the idiot lights also work. Dash has not been cut for a stereo. The fan motor works. The AM radio does not do anything when it is turned on. You can see the bad place on the plastic shift indicator. I'm not sure what happened. The shifter feels tight, not loose and sloppy. Glove box and vents for that Astro Ventilation Dome light works when either door is opened. Both shoulder harnesses are still attached to the clips on the headliner. Passenger door panel Driver door panel You can drive this car home The engine is the original 327. It starts right up and runs very quietly. That radiator cap might be the original. Engine is clean. It looks like a previous owner spray painted it. There are only a couple of changes from original that I could spot. The fan is not original. Brake lines from the master to the rear end have been changed by a previous owner. The power steering works properly and makes the car easy to drive. The sticker says it has 210 horsepower Underside of hood - a previous owner must have added the insulation Trunk opens and closes properly Underside of trunk lid - I have no idea who added the posi-traction sticker or why. Car has the standard rear end. I would guess the ratio is 3:08. Trunk mat has some stains Trunk mat removed - there was some glue holding the mat down - owner has sprayed the trunk once and it needs another coat. Driver side of the trunk Passenger side of the trunk Passenger side - I was told these marks mean the quarters are originals Driver side marks Here is the VIN on the dash. VIN is 124378N460193 The numbers on the front of the block - 18N460193 VO620ME - note the last six digits of the VIN are 460193 which makes this the original numbers matching engine. ME stands for 327 with 210 horsepower, two-barrel carburetor. This is the cowl tag - note no paint code because the car came with special order paint. The 2 is for black vinyl top. 749 is custom black houndstooth interior; not sure why the car has black interior. A couple of owners back a dealer owned the car and this is the poster he displayed on the car when he took it to shows. He says the miles on the car are original. We do not know what happened to the "All Documents" but we wish we had them. Grill has been painted black Hood has two paint chips on the ridge in the center Car has all four of the 1968 marker lights Tires have plenty of tread P205X70X14 Driver front fender Rear view mirror and trim Someone replaced the vinyl top in the past. The top is fine but they dinged the top's trim. Nice body Solid car Top trim has some dings and the lower trim needs a clip or something Deck lid Bezels are original - I think you can see they are pitted Valence is in nice shape. The rear bumper has some noticeable scratches. The gas cap is an old locking one. This car still has the single exhaust with the muffler behind the rear. A friend of the owner said he could hardly hear it running. Engine is quiet. Passenger taillight. Note trim on trunk and antenna. Body is pretty straight Vinyl top Passenger side just in front of the rear wheel Good alignment on the side glass Passenger door Astro Ventilation - the 67 had vent windows - the 68 did not If you are seriously interested in this car my advice is to come and see it. The car is located in Chesterfield County which is near Richmond Virginia, the state capitol. Car is a short drive from I-95, I-64, I-288 and I-295.
