Vehicle Detail
This is the third 300CD I have had, and I've driven Mercedes diesels since 1969. I've owned this one for five years. It has not been smoked in while I have owned it. It was originally a California, car as you can tell by the air filter being up front by the radiator These motors were specifically imported for California and their tougher air quality standards. It has been my daily driver except during the winter. It has never been in snow/ice/salt and it shows because there is no rust anywhere. It runs really strong, does not use oil and gets average of 27 miles per gallon of diesel. It has always been very reliable and I would not hesitate to drive it any distance. I had the air conditioned recharged this summer and it works good. Sun roof, am/fm/cd radio and windows work good. Even the vacuum door and trunk locks work as they should. There are very few dings. The car has had a partial repaint before I got it and the new paint is flaking off around the radio antannae (see picture). It even has the original antannae and it is fully functional. The paint overall is average to good for a car 25 years old. The interior is very good. I had a new headliner installed when I bought the car. Carpets are very good original. I always used full sheep skin seat covers and the leather seats are original. There is one place on driver's seat where there is a cut (see photo). The dash has a couple small cracks, the largest is pointed out in the pictures. The wood is in good condition. Door panels are good. The chrome wheels are about 10 years old and look good from a distance of several feet. Up close, some thinning/cracking of chrome is seen. It also has a new hood pad (insulation). The cruise control recently stopped working and if you know anything about these cars, it is surprising it lasted as long as it did (25 years). Also, I just had a rock hit the plastic grill and you can see it took out a small chunk. If the car is purchased at the 'Buy it Now' price, I will put a new plastic grill in (about $75 last time I bought one). The tires are fair to good. I had new ball joints put on and the front tires are only fair due to the uneven wear from the worn ball joints. I put 300,000 miles on the last 300CD I owned and it was still going strong, but it was a 1980 non-turbo and I wanted the turbo. It really is much quicker than the non-turbo models. I don't have any records on the car before it came into my possession, but I have everything since I've owned it. I do have recent CARFAX available. This 123 style coupe has a classic style and always looks good. I often get compliments on the car in parking lots and fast food drive thrus. They didn't make a lot of these (1979-1985) and this is the last year for this style. I think I recall seeing in old NADA books, these cars sold new for around $50K. Getting new parts for these cars is not a problem as there are still several suppliers for everything. The car is sold as is and there is no warrenty. Shipping is responsiblility of the buyer, but I can help on this end. $500.00 deposit due within 48 hours of close of auction and I prefer PayPal. Full payment due within seven days. No trades considered. Email me with questions thru Ebay. The car is for sale locally and the listing may be ended early.
