Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a 1942 Studebaker President Skyway Land Cruiser. The vehicle is being sold AS IS, WHERE IS. It is finished in Nassau Blue over Canyon Gray, and equipped with Overdrive, Climatizer (Heater), Fog Lights and a clock. The car is not driveable, and shows 62,000 miles on the odometer. It has received some amateur restoration work at some point in its past, most notably in the rear fenders. A New Old Stock (NOS) driver's side rear fender is included with the sale. The NOS fender is in good condition but does have some dings, dents and surface rust. Mechanical: The car had not run for at least 15 years until it was taken out of storage a few weeks ago, but does turn over and will run when fed through the carburetor. While running, the gauge showed approx. 30-40 lbs of oil pressure. Brakes are completely down. Clutch was free, condidtion of transmission, overdrive and axle is unknown. Wiring harness is in need of replacement. Fuel tank drain plug was able to be removed without any fuss. Body & Brightwork: There are areas of rust around the lower door pillars (see photos) and around the rear fenders. Some amateur body work was performed at some time in the past, along with some resprayed paint. Gray overspray is present on the lower roof. Paint on top of roof is very thin. Bumpers and grille are in very good condition, but hood and trunk die cast is quite pitted. Three hubcaps are chrome, one (the one under the driver's side rear skirt) is a painted "blackout" hubcap. Both skirts are present, the passenger side one was found after prinicpal photography was done, and was photographed later (see photos). All weatherstrips need replacement. Chassis & Undercarriage: Chassis and underside has significant surface rust, but the chassis and body underside appear quite solid. Interior: The interior is in good condition, but may be replacement material. The rear seat back top is ripped (see photo). Some water staining, fading, and wear is visible on the door panels. Headliner is in excellent condition, and original clock insert is present. The steering wheel is also in very good shape, with some cracking around the back of the hub. Climatizer controls also in good shape. Interior armrests have been recovered in non-authentic material. Plastic door release/window crank escutcheons are starting to buckle. Engine-turned surfaces in instrument panel are stained/discolored some. Other: As mentioned previosly, NOS driver's side rear fender is included with the sale. Also included is a head gasket and oil filter element. Please Email with questions and for additional pictures, or call Andy at (574)-235-9714 x226. Car may be viewed by appointment. Terms: Vehicle has clear title, and will be sold with a bill of sale. WILL NOT SHIP! Vehicle is sold AS IS, WHERE IS, with no warranty of any kind. No claims are made for authenticity, completeness or operational status. Total amount due within 72 hours of conclusion of auction. Vehicle must be picked up within 10 days of close of auction.
