I bought this from a dealer in 2003 with 16,000 miles and have since put in 23,800 miles over the last 7 years. This car is title as a lemon return out of California due to a gouge in the bumper and the previous owner believed the clutch released high. I have the notarized documentation from BMW that I would be happy email to anyone interested. The car has been meticulously maintained over the years. I use gastrol (bmw) synthetic oil that has been changed every 4,500 miles or yearly. I did replace the clutch around 19,000 and I recently replaced the radiator and MAF and small items related to the check engine light coming on. The tires have less than 3,000 miles on them. The oil was just changed and I changed the transmission fluid to redline and changed to a 545i shifter based on my mechanic’s recommendation. I will include original shifter as well. I have most of the maintenance records over the years and will include with the car. The only known items to fix are the front brake pads which about 5,000 miles left on them and my mechanic recommended changing rib belts in the next couple of years at a cost of $260 for parts and labor. I would have had it done then but had a commitment and had to leave with the car. The car has never been in any type of accident or any type of respray. I have the car detailed one to two times and year and it has been garaged every night I have owned it. The main options include: · M sport suspension/6 speed · Sunroof · 6 CD Changer · DSP/Hi Premium Stereo System I would not sell the car but recent back issues forced me to abandon a clutch and go with an automatic. I have never driven car hard at all. I believe it has to be the one the finest 540i that exist today. The only other issues that I am aware of are: · Back driver side door has a small ding that is very hard to see and there is a white scratch shown in photos – my mechanic could repair for $160 through dentless repair · Front bumper – I bumped a stanchion at the airport and created a bruise to the front bumper – see in photos · Dash display – some pixalization – common problem for 540i but not bad with this one · There is some bolster wear on the front driver’s seat · Curb rash on all four rims I have owned many fine automobiles but this by far been my favorite.
