Vehicle Detail

1987 Chevy K5 Blazer Full Size. This Truck was driven by my son for two years. He has moved up to a newer pickup truck and this one just sits. I drive it on occasion to keep the fluids circulating. Otherwise it sat in our driveway unused for almost a year now. It runs and I can drive it to work or around our small town. Our original intent was to restore it but we don't have the facility or time to do the job right so we decided to part with it. We have had this truck in the rain and thru car washes. The removable top or windows have not leaked. Engine: 350 ci dual exhaust Transmission: Automatic TH700 R4 (3.06:1) Rear Diff: 10 Bolt 8.5 inch 28 spline. New Spider Gears Both rear axles checked and straight. (none bent, no vibrations) Transfer Case: NP208 Power Windows in driver passenger doors work Rear power window in tailgate goes up and down. Windshield wipers work Headlights, turn signals, brake and tail lights work Mileage: Odometer in dash today reads 51445 but Indiana Title shows 146807 (when we registered it) That should mean it has 151,445 miles on it now. We put 4638 miles on it since we have owned it. It drove on paved city streets while we had it so we have not tested the locking hubs or 4 wheel drive operation. The dash cover has one crack close to center covered with a velcro strip (see photo) It looks good for its age. It will need lots of body work (check the pictures) The previous owners used if for a mud buggy and obviously did not clean it very well so there is alot of rust in the underbody panels. Replacing both front fenders and doors would cure alot of it. Replacement metal floor pans have been added to some of the affected areas. There are plenty of Good Usable parts on this to help fix up a different K5 or you could use it as is for a Hunting Buggy. This truck will need a tune up, we have replaced spark plugs but it does hesitate on acceleration. We have not replaced the fuel filter. It does have a hard shift from 1st to 2nd gear. Otherwise it shifts normal going down the highway. A friend told us to change the fluid and filter in the tranny. I am not an auto transmission guy so I don't know what it would need. The glass is all good except the windshield. It is cracked on the passenger side. You can't really tell in the pictures. Our local salvage yard had a windshield available for $65. With a little work I believe it could make a daily driver again like it did for my son going to school. If you buy this I do not recommend driving it without some tune up work first. It is being sold as is with no warranty implied. If you live close by and want to come check it out, then feel free. Email and I will send phone and address. If you need more info or pictures, let me know and I can provide those. It is advertised locally so I reserve the right to end the auction in case of a local sale. If you are seriously interested then by all means bid. If there is no action I will assume no one wants it, so I might sell it to the highest local offer. If there is interest I give eBay bidders top priority. On Aug-01-10 at 16:15:19 PDT, seller added the following information: ***************************************************************** Sunday Update: While looking for the engine casting number I found the vaccuum hose off from the base of the injector body to a metal line going to the transmission. I replaced it with new hose and test drove. It is shifting much better now and the hesitation on acceleration is almost gone. Question from eBayer about the engine, see my reply: Dear dannye2000, The VIN you posted say it has a 305 engine. You have posted it has a 350. Did you change the engine? Does the A/C work? - idive130 Dear idive130, I was able to confirm the engine size is a 350. I found the engine code stamped on the block. The previous owner told us he put a 350 in it, But I wanted to be sure. It took some research for me to figure out how to find the engine code on the block. Here are the numbers I found stamped on the block: V0416TJZ. The website here http://www.nastyz28.com/chevy-engine-code-stampings.php shows on the engine suffix code that TJZ is a 350. As far as Air Conditioning. It has the parts but they are not connected to the AC compressor. So no it does not have working ac. Probably did not hook it back up after the engine was changed is my guess. Thanks for looking. - dannye2000
