Vehicle Detail
1998 Volkswagen Jetta TDI 1.9L Diesel Sedan 134,689 miles Ice cold Air Conditioning Runs and drives great, 5-speed shifts flawlessly Spare set of genuine VW wheels and VW wheel covers included Babied Clean Interior, Glossy Dark Green Metallic Exterior More efficient "MKIII" edition vs. Newer Jetta that has less good fuel economy 450~ detailed pictures and multiple videos below WILL COORDINATE TRANSPORT TO PORT OF MIAMI TO HAVE THE CAR SHIPPED WORLDWIDE -- no reserve -- no reserve -- no reserve -- no reserve -- no reserve -- no reserve -- You are bidding on a 1998 Volkswagen Jetta TDI DIESEL with a 1.9 Liter turbocharged engine. It has a gorgeous glossy clear coat dark green metallic exterior and a light grey cloth interior and 5-speed manual transmission. It starts up instantly even when it hasn't been started in a long time. It doesn't smoke excessively...just the right amount for a TDI, only during acceleration. The air conditioning holds its freon charge and cools the cabin down to a cold state quickly. The car shifts through all 5 forward gears nicely as well as reverse. The clutch and brakes feel good, with a very minute amount of warped-ness in the rotors which is nothing to cause concern. The pulsating you feel on your foot is barely noticeable and most people would not mention it...I am just being overly thorough. All the lights work and radio works great...security code included. A couple buttons have popped off the radio in the lower left corner, but it's still fully operational. I personally know the previous owner who told me the timing belt was done at the correct mileage. The car tracks straight. Includes an owners manual and some records (the actual owners manual is not for precisely the correct year, but it's a very close match). There is a drip of Diesel fuel that comes out from near one of the connections on the injection pump. The Volkswagen dealer told me it's just a $50 job to do the O-ring that's probably causing that. But, the drip is so minor it never bothered me. The auction includes a spare set of genuine Volkswagen steel wheels, and genuine VW Jetta hubcaps (wheel covers) that fit on those wheels. There is an unopened OEM ("original equipment") spare fuel filter in a small box in the trunk, ready for when you need it and a few other spare parts such as a . There's also a dust/heat shied for one of the brake calipers that the previous owner didn't reinstall. For the record, it is advised to have that reinstalled, which is a very easy job. The turn signals are not working. You get the original factory alarm keyless entry keyfob, which needs a new battery, and two keys. Various nicks and scratches as expectd for age. The tires are as pictured, with limited life left in them. AUCTION RULES: Payment is due within within 7 calendar days of auction close, by either cash in person or official bank check only. Pickup is due within 7 calendar days of auction ending, and may not occur until funds have cleared. A $500 deposit deposit is due by PayPal within 24 hours of the auction closing. This car is sold As-Is with no warranties expressed or implied. You must study each picture and video carefully and fully. If you are a Florida resident you must pay Florida sales tax on this car, regardless of whether you take possession of it in Florida or not, at the time of purchase. If you are not a Florida resident, you must pay sales tax for your U.S. state of eventual registration if you are taking possession of the vehicle in Florida, however, if you will not be taking possession of it in Florida (i.e., a real transportation company will be transporting it for you to its destination outside of Florida), you do not pay sales tax at the time of purchase. No qualified safety inspection has been done to this car. You should have such inspection performed before the vehicle is operated. Florida liability insurance will be required if you will have us provide you a temporary license plate and registration at the time of purchase. If, however, you are not going to register the vehicle immediately and you will be transporting it from the dealership on a trailer, you must sign an affidavit that you are not registering it right away and then you are neither required to get a registration nor license plate at the dealership. If the vehicle is "inextricably committed to the export process" to be exported to a foreign country, you are not required to pay Florida sales tax. Photo album 1 (the following slideshow automatically displays only the first 100 of the approximately 450~ pictures in the entire album. To view all of the pictures, click "View all" near the bottom right of the slide show display immediatley below): The following two videos demonstrate a general walkaround, engine operation, (lack of) smoke from tailpipe, and city and highway driving -- they should both be watched in their entireties: On Jul-29-10 at 23:08:12 PDT, seller added the following information: I just remembered I had a folder with partial maintenance records in it for this Jetta, searched for it and found it. I see that the maintenance records go back about 10 years. All the receipts, etc., go to whoever wins the auction for the car. In the folder is a professional timing belt job paid invoice, done at ~90,000 miles. It's further support -- if you needed any -- that the car was maintained well. Also included is a valve adjustment tool, that is apparently fabricated only for adjusting TDI valves. Some of you have written to compliment that the car is very clean and inquired about whether I have a Buy-It-Now because you need a car quickly. First of all, thank you for the compliment. If you'd like to message over your Buy-It-Now offer, you can do so.On Aug-01-10 at 19:23:52 PDT, seller added the following information: You might notice the airbag indicator light is on in a video. I think that came on because I had the battery disconnected for extended storage, and it will probably turn off after you turn on and off the key a certain number of times. Or any parts store chain can probably clear it out for free.
