Vehicle Detail
JUST in time for Summer and this great weekend coming up...is an Original 1979 Super Beetle Convertible with 17k miles on it. We think that the 17k miles are original since the engine block/head is so clean and untouched...but the body looks like 117k probably, but in overall good condition. We have TRIED several ways to verify the Mileage, but were not able to do that with absolute documentation. It is the LAST YEAR of the Super Beetle Convertibles and also in the sought after White on White version. Original Upholstery, Original Paint, Original Top...all Electrical works and runs & drives PERFECT. New Stereo & Speakers are the ONLY thing that was changed from Original...mostly because the Original Stereo was terrible... ALMOST passed SMOG with the original Catalytic Converter, passed on the Low Speed Idle...barely failed High Speed Idle, but NOT "dinged" as a "Gross Polluter", so put in a new Catalytic Converter and you are GOOD to go. It will EASILY pass SMOG with a new Catalytic Converter installed, we have the SMOG Test Results to go with the Vehicle. Been on Non-Op for Several Years and VERY recently spent almost $3k on completely going through this car mechanically to make it a safe and reliable daily driver. Sadly, the girl that I was fixing it up for...decided she wanted a NEW Mini Convertible....and I've abandoned this project to bring it to perfection, and just need to have it move on to a more worthy new owner. This car has been COMPLETELY gone through mechanically and runs and drives better than new! Shifter has almost NO play, neither does the Steering. All new belts/hoses/fluids....also the Injectors and Fuel Pumps/Filters have been changed. We even changed out the Brakes to a FULL NEW Disc Brakes setup up front. To make this car perfect....to get the interior redone since the original Seat Filling is gone...get some of the Window Seals replaced, little things like that...maybe $2k-$3k to get it all Perfect...but totally driveable and ready for trips right now. Currently my friends down at Peninsula Automotive are storing it for me and they are also THE place to work on this and get parts through...since they TOTALLY specialize in Older VW's. These guys will have the keys and title ready to go for the lucky new owner. The Title was never transferred from the ORIGINAL Owner, so we have the ORIGINAL Title from the lady that bought it new. It lived most of its life just putting around Auburn, California. I picked up from an Estate Sale that a friend was running for her..and since it was Non-Operational...just worked on it and hadn't gotten around to registering it. But there is NO name written in the Title, clear and clean with no back dues... have copy of DMV verification of Non-Operational Status with the Title. Just as easy as putting your name on it and sending you off to DMV. NO Back Fees due....NO weird DMV Fees. Just pay current Registration and you are good to go! Any questions, you can call the guys at Peninsula Automotive: (408) 378-7033 Or you can stop by and view the VW, take it for a test drive, at: Peninsula Automotive 861 Camden Avenue, #14 Campbell, CA.95008 Feel free to contact me with any other questions as well. We are open for trades too, but it should be something we just can't refuse...something we just haven't thought of yet.
