Vehicle Detail
This is a one of a kind Jeep CJ5 custom built by Jim Dordaller of Cincinnati, OH. It was featured in 4 Wheel Drive Magazine August 1996 of which I have a copy. If you type in Jim Dordaller into Google you will find information regarding this little beauty in several locations. Apparently it has won several show trophies none of which I have. It has been up and down Lions Back in Moab Utah and led many rock climbing runs. It has a very nice Red Paint with all Black interior which has and is undergoing updating. The interior floor has been cleaned and painted with black Duraliner and looks great. There was no rust prior to painting. The pans and decking are all in excellent condition. The seat frames, roll bar, and side skid plates have all been sandblasted, primed and repainted (I need to re-install). The dash has been removed and the entire truck re-wired with an all new wiring harness (Painless Wiring). I am not an expert on the mechanics of a truck like this but the information I got with the truck when I purchased it is that it has reverse cut Dana 44 axles over axle suspension, front and rear ARB air lockers. An Atlas transfer case 4:1 ratio. A T194 Speed Transmission and Woody drive shafts. When I purchased the truck it had a Fuel Injected engine with throttle body and 4.0 Liter head on a 258 c.i. straight six engine (taken from a newer Jeep). The truck was running very rich soon after I got it and I believe the problem was either in the GM control module that was installed or the jets in the throttle body were not functioning correctly. I decided at that time to take the computer controls, the throttle body, and 4.0 Liter engine out and replace with an 4.2 Liter engine and carburetor. This work has not been completed at this time. It is important to note here that the equipment that came with the truck will be included with it in addition to a second 258 c.i. AMC engine taken from an AMC Spirit (same engine as the Jeep CJ original. If the winning bidder likes the fuel injection setup better it can certainly be taken back to that. The 4.0 liter engine block is still in the truck and the head has been removed. The winning bidder can set the truck up any way you like. The roll cage was custom built and is the air tank for the onboard dual compressors (I believe one of those may operate the lockers, told you, I'm no expert). There is an air horn that my son loves to blow. There is an 8000 lb. Warn Winch that was installed on the front that I have removed while working on the truck. I actually like the look better without it but if you are off road you certainly need this. Four bolts and reconnect the wiring you are back in business. I can re-install unless otherwise advised by the winning bidder. I have added a new Stereo (Alpine) with two new (very professionally installed) dash speakers. Sound is actually amazing. I can get the exact brands if desired. No alterations were made to the original dash putting the speakers in. I will be adding pictures as I take them (believe it or not I don't have any). I plan on bringing the Jeep back home now that the wiring has been completed. The pictures in the listing initially are taken offline. The truck looks much better now than it did in those pics. My father in law re-wired the truck for me, The front bumper (custom built) is also off being repainted. If you can get your hands on a copy of 4 Wheel Drive & Sport Utility Magazine, Aug. 1996, Vol. 12, No. 8 you can read about this beauty. Additionally, the tires are 33x12.50R15 Pro Comp Radial Mud Terrain TA's mounted on American Racing Chrome Wheels. Behind the T-19 transmission is a Scout300 transfer case with twin stick shifters. The rear is narrowed, reverse cut from a Ford Truck with 3.54:1 gears and an ARB air locker. The frontend is a narrowed Scout Dana 44 with 3.54's and an ARB air locker. There is a custom built 1/2 cab top with soft doors that have been removed but will be included. The rear tonneau cover has been cleaned, painted black, and re-installed. The fuel tank is 20 Gal. Feel free to ask any questions and I will do my best to answer. I drove this truck from Cleveland, OH to Richmond, VA last May without any problems and I'm 50 years old. The actual mileage of the truck is unknown. The body does not reflect it's actual age and I suspect it was garaged and trailered to events by the previous owner whom I believe was the original owner. The only mileage I have put on the truck since I purchased it was the trip from Cleveland, OH and then about 1000 around town. I have had it parked in my garage since then. You can estimate the mileage based on the information included in the carcheck included in the listing. I don't know what the mileage was when the engine was modified or any of the other modifications. The second owner of record was the company that sold the truck to me. They only had the truck a month or so. The truck has been completely re-wired with a Painless wiring harness (cost over $400 from Morris 4X4). All that needs to be done to complete the truck is to re-install the skid plates, roll bar, front bumper, winch,etc... I have discovered that the engine that was in the truck was a complete 4.0 liter switch out. I had the 4.2 liter head with the second engine rebuilt as I planned to replace the entire engine. I have the 4.2 liter head but need to retrieve the block from my friends house. I will take care of that before pickup. I just don't have the time or energy to complete the truck and my son is reminding me daily that he doesn't have a car to drive. I'm thinking that somebody out there who truly enjoys this stuff would be happy to make the switch out or keep it 4.0 liter with the computer module and have a 4.2 liter back up engine. I just want something that my son can start driving now. So here is what you get folks. A great looking CJ5 with all the mods for offroading and rock crawling. Two engines, both 258 in line 6 (one 4.0 liter and one 4.2 liter). The 4.0 liter comes with the throttle body (probably needs rebuild) and the 4.2 liter will need a carburetor. The oil pan, valve cover, and breather have all been blasted and repainted for the 4.0 liter. There is a new Stereo and Speakers in the dash with ipod connect (sounds really good). I believe that covers it. If you have questions please feel free to ask. I will asist any way I can. If you need assistance with delivery I'll consider that depending on where you are located. On Jul-25-10 at 08:03:17 PDT, seller added the following information: Will consider a trade for something of equal value, sporty car preferably manual shift for my 17 year old son. ThanksOn Jul-30-10 at 17:16:28 PDT, seller added the following information: I will be re-installing the side skid plates, front grill cover, front bumper, winch, and rear tonneau cover on Saturday and will take pics that will be added late Saturday or early Sunday. Thanks for all the questions and the watchers who have placed my truck in their watch list. I hope that somebody will be a winning bidder on Tuesday. On Aug-01-10 at 12:12:19 PDT, seller added the following information: Not sure that this really makes any difference but it appears that I indicated two different transfer cases. It is actually an Dana transfer case not Atlas. I have spoken with a couple of folks that state there isn't much if any difference between the two. I have always thought that Dana was as good as it gets. Good luck everyone.
