Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a nice 66 GMC Suburban. This is a three speed on the column V6. Motor is original and runs great! There is no power steering and no power brakes. Brakes work but a bit soft. Lines probably need to be flushed. Steering is good with minimal play on the steering wheel. Motor: 305 V6, always starts, no fluid leaks, does not smoke (photo showing tailpipe taken while motor running). I had the carb rebuilt 8 years ago (2 barrel). I had the water pump replaced 9 years ago. Body: No dents, minor rust around wheel wells, no filler work, some sanding done on what appears to be original paint in prep for painting that apparently never happened. Has all four hubcaps, no spare tire, Has a crack on far left of windshield which does not affect driver vision. All other windows are good. Driver side rolls up a little hard. Passenger side rolls up smooth. Side windows slide. Back hatch functional and locks. Tires are driveable and I have recently driven this to work with no worries (30 mi. round trip). Interior: Recently reupholstered - looks good. floorboard solid. Dashboard good. Stereo mounted below to avoid damaging dashboard. Box speakers installed to avoid cutting into door panels. Still has the dummy plate where the radio would go (radios were apparently an option on this model). Speedometer and odometer work. Gas gauge does not work (always reads full). Heater works. AC does not work. All lights work. Turn signals work but right turn stays on when finished turning. Windshield wipers work but missing passenger side wiper (I think it needs a bushing). Washer pump works but needs new hose to resevoir. The truck runs down the road very nice and attracts a lot of attention on the road and anywhere you stop. A lot of folks seem to have fond memories of these old Suburbans from their childhood. This was my "Home Depot truck" but now I have a newer Suburban. I do not have room on my driveway for two Suburbans. I hate to see this one go............but my wife says it must! Call me for more info or for a test drive (423) 505-4846. 7/25/10 This is an update based on questions so far: Rust - there is some rust around the wheel wells and rocker panels. For the age of this truck I would consider this not bad but I am not a body expert. The transmission is good - the truck shifts easily. The linkage is smooth and does not hang up. You do not have to "hunt" for gears.
