Vehicle Detail

ALFA ROMEO GTV6 SCCA ITS CLASS or Vintage-eligible RACECAR Beautiful, reliable, super-fast, and complete. This race car is ready to put on the track, has been tested through several years of SCCA competition, and is super-competitive. It is still fresh, up-to-date, and has just been gone through. Regarding the condition: The car is very good looking, in my opinion, and in excellent cosmetic condition for an IT car. It is definitely pretty enough for Vintage. But it IS a race car. There is some rust popping through on the right rocker, and some under the car behind the front wheel well. The traditional rust spots have been repaired with thicker metal (shock tower area and floor pan on the driver’s side). But there is nothing structural and the car is absolutely straight. Finishing Record Car has several 1st place finishes, and most finishes resulted in podiums. No DNF’s, DNS’s, or finishes out of top 4 in class, or top 10 overall. This car is extremely reliable, and has never been involved in an on-track incident. Runs 1:13’s at Gateway Int’l Speedway. At Alfa Club events, both local and national, car has never been beat by a V6.Regarding the photos, some of the pics of the interior are before the new dash was installed. The photos of the new dash are during installation, before the roll cage was refitted and the seat installed. Contrary to what appears in the photos, the blue on the car all matches. I have the large Alfa logo on the hood in red also-it’s a custom fabbed vinyl decal. At this point, the car is SCCA ITS legal, conforms to the 2010 GCR, and is Vintage Racing eligible. All safety equipment is current including; · Fire Extinguisher (Halon) · Driver’s Seat (NEW Sparco Evo) · Autopower Roll Cage · NEW 5-point Camlock Harness · Battery/Alternator shutoff · Window net Quick-release for Momo wheel New for 2010 includes: Freshly rebuilt transaxle w/new syncros, sliders, and dogs. All 4 Calipers (Fronts are aluminum Brembos) · Braided stainless steel brake hoses · Brake pads (Hawk HT-10) · All 4 Brake Rotors · New timing belt, rebuilt hydraulic de-tensioner, water pump, thermostat · New dash and custom fabricated aluminum dash fascia W/Autometer gauges · Sparco Evo seat · 5 point Camlock harness Rebuilt driveshaft w/all new driveshaft donuts and carrier bushing silicone ducting for brake cooling New 240 cfm Nascar brake cooling blowers (4) NACA brake ducts Flexible front spoiler/air deflector I built this car as a race car in 1998, and it has never been in a race incident. The car is solid, very reliable, and extremely fast. The best part of the car is the suspension, which was developed in part by an ex-Paul Rossi Racing chassis man on his chassis program. (This guy was recently partners in a very successful Grand Am Rolex Cup team-not sure if he’s still running it though). Anyway, after the car was measured-up and fitted with the proper suspension, it made quite a difference. No discernable understeer in tight corners, and no oversteer in fast sweepers. A truly neutral car to drive, with very stable high speed manners. We did 2 setups. A rain/bumpy track setup, (more compliant) and a dry/smooth track setup (very stiff). The GTV6 has these special modifications (they may not be one of a kind, but these mods, done correctly, are rare at this level of racing); · Revalved Koni yellows, · SZ Uniball at the DeDion front pivot mount for Zero compliance · Offset upper ball joints for more neg camber up front · Precision bent rear DeDion tube for negative camber at the rear (Tire temps are even across the tire at all 4 corners normally) · 3-way adjustable rear sway bar · Larger front sway bar · Poly bushings at the Watts Links, Caster Rods, Front and Rear Sway Bar body mounts, AND Linkpins The engine was built by AMT Performance, who has built the motors for the multiple National SCCA Champions Chuck Mathis, (GP, ITA), and Chris Albin (I think EP and ITB). It has recently been gone through and has about 6-8 total events on it, most of those being track days/driving schools at which I instruct. The engine was built for an 8,000 RPM limit, but has a limiter of 7,400 on it. I typically shift below 7K though, as the engine was built to have more torque than a typical Alfa motor, and it seems pointless to wind it out excessively. The engine was built to these basic specs: ported and polished, compression bumped to within acceptable limits, and balance engine and strengthen bottom-end to make engine last. The transaxle is a 4:10 final drive with a limited slip diff. As previously mentioned, it has recently undergone a complete rebuild, w/new syncros, rings, and dogs on the first three gears, fresh shifter bushings and trans mounts. The bearings, races, gears and shims were all inspected and showed no signs of misalignment or premature wear. Since I began campaigning this car, I have suffered no DNS’s, DNF’s, and most important, no DFL’s! The car has always placed in the top ten overall, and the top 4 in class, with many trophy positions. My current fast lap at Gateway Int’l. is 1:13, which would put me on the pole of virtually every ITS race for the last 2 years, even though I wasn’t able to compete recently. Spares include: · Extra matching wheel · Set of fresh mounted rains ( NOS Yokohama A008 RTU's) · Extra trans, motor and driveshaft mounts spare set of fresh heads spare block · Suspension bushings, ……….Well, since I service Alfas and have bought out 3 dealership’s parts departments, I don’t think spares will be an issue. If you have any other questions, please feel free to call me or E-mail me anytime. I hate to sell the car, but at this time I can’t see that I will be running it in the near future.
