Hello. I am Tom Klein, doing business as Tom’s Cool Cars An Independent North Carolina Licensed & Bonded Dealer My Motto: If it’s not cool, I don’t sell it! I am also a serious Gearhead who has raced, restored and collected cars, motorcycles, boats and airplanes for decades. I specialize in all generation Corvettes, plus Hot Rods, Muscle Cars, European High Performance Cars, Classic American Icons & anything else that’s cool. like old trucks. It’s a lifelong passionate hobby that I've been enjoying as a semi-retirement business for the past several years. Many of the vehicles I sell are from my personal collection. I have posted the maximum large size 24 photos of this Ford F100 Pickup. Ebay forbids off-site links in listings. However, upon email or phone request I can provide the link to my photo gallery containing these and about 20 additional large format high resolution photos of this excellent truck that can be view in a full page format. Just ask. I attempt to be as complete as possible with my descriptions. However, if you have any questions after reading this one thoroughly, or to arrange an appointment to see and drive this truck, please give me a call at 336-372-7400 between 8:30 AM & 6 PM Eastern Time any day. I will be happy to discuss it at length and/or arrange a convenient showing. I can also be reached via direct email at: tom@tomscoolcars.com (no phone or email solicitors, please). THIS IS A FIXED PRICE OFFERING. HOWEVER, I WILL "LISTEN" TO REASON. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN PRESENTING AN OFFER PLEASE CALL. I CAN TAKE SOMEONE WHO TELEPHONES MORE SERIOUSLY THAN AN EMAIL. LET'S DISCUSS IT AND SEE WHAT WE CAN WORK OUT. ALSO, IF YOU DECIDE TO SIEZE THE OPPORTUNITY BY SELECTING THE "BUY IT NOW" OPTION, PLEASE CALL ME FIRST TO BE SURE THE TRUCK IS STILL AVAILABLE. IT IS BEING ADVERTISED ELSEWHERE AND COULD SELL BEFORE I HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO END THIS OFFERING ON EBAY. I WOULDN'T WANT YOU TO BE DISAPPOINTED. THANK YOU. THIS IS THE KIND OF FIND COLLECTORS LIVE FOR! HIGHLY DOCUMENTED FROM DAY 1. METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED FROM DAY 1. VERY LOW MILEAGE (1,250 Miles Per Year Average) GREAT ORIGINAL CLASSIC TRUCK PATINA DRY ARIZONA CLIMATE ONE OWNER FOR 38 YEARS! 1971 FORD F100 “SPORT CUSTOM” LONGBED PICKUP 360 Cu In 240 HP 4 Barrel Engine 4 Speed Manual Transmission Power Brakes Cold Air Conditioning Rare Factory Dual Fuel Tanks As a long time collector and restorer I can say this is one VERY impressive 39 year old vehicle. It is only on rare (and exciting) occasion that you find a low mile highly documented vehicle this age in such great condition, especially a pickup truck! If you are looking for a classic pickup that will appreciate in value, won't require thou$and$ to make right and reliable, one that IS right that you can immediately enjoy, drive reliably, be proud of owning and proud of providing continued excellent care of, opportunity is knocking. This truck was treated extraordinarily well by the original owner from the day he and his wife took delivery. They purchased it July 12th 1971 from Bennett Motor Company, Seminole, Texas, and drove it to their Tucson, Arizona, residence where it remained garaged and in their possession and care at the same address in the dry southwestern climate for the next 38 years. They primarily used the truck for camping trips. The wife retained ownership and continued caring for the truck for many years after her husband’s death, although it was driven sparingly from that point on. As the new owner will see the maintenance receipts are in the wife’s name from the 1990’s forward. During those 38 years a regular maintenance schedule was carefully followed and maintenance records kept. Ownership records, including the Original Cardboard Temporary License Plate issued by Bennett Motors, annual vehicle registrations, annual vehicle inspection records and annual emissions test records were also kept. The 48k miles on this truck are absolutely original and correct. Even hand written notes pertaining to maintenance were kept by the owner who was very meticulous and obviously loved this truck. A thick file of records have been kept to this day and all of them will be passed on to the new owner. In 2009 the truck was purchased from the wife’s estate by a friend of mine. Like in the recent TV commercial he wanted to present it to his father as a gift because his dad had one when he and his brother were kids. After a lengthy and thorough search to locate a great example, and based on the well documented maintenance history, he did not hesitate to fly to Arizona, take delivery and drive it over 2,000 miles to his home in Virginia. The truck performed beautifully and completely trouble free. His Dad was very surprised with the gift but after some initial use it otherwise sat in his garage for the past 15 months so the decision was made to pass it on to a new owner. Being familiar with the truck, when I was offered the opportunity to acquire it I didn’t hesitate. It is now in my inventory and I will dealer reassign the Virginia Title to the new owner who will then be just the third owner. This is a true SURVIVOR in great shape! Not what you typically find in a nearly 40 year old vehicle, especially a pickup truck. It is a collector quality truck that deserves continued loving care in the hands of an Enthusiast. While there has been continuous maintenance and mechanical upgrades, and the seat was re-sprung, re-padded and reupholstered in 2008, this 39 year old Pickup exudes a great patina of originality. There is zero rust in the original body panels, the floor pans are as solid as a rock and the frame and suspension are in excellent condition. Corrosion free vehicles like this only come out of the desert southwest, but even then they had to have had a lifetime of excellent overall care to be in this condition. Not to mention the all important DOCUMENTATION, DOCUMENTATION, DOCUMENTATION. With continued good care this truck will most certainly be an appreciating collectible in the years to come. I’ve put about 200 miles on the truck thoroughly checking it out since acquiring it a week and a half ago. It drives and handles great with the Twin Independent Front I-Beam Suspension (which I recall as a big deal in Ford’s advertising when they introduced it back in the day). The 360 Cube, 240 horsepower engine purrs at idle, runs smoothly down the road and produces a lot of torque. The doors easily click solidly closed with the slightest effort and it is also surprisingly quiet riding and free of squeaks and rattles. No doubt the low miles and excellent care it has received over the past 39 years help a lot, but it is also apparent this is a well built truck. It’s simply a solid fun classic that you can drive in comfort. I have had the truck completely serviced from the engine to the differential and suspension. A new exhaust system is installed from the engine manifold back. The Air Conditioning system was evacuated, the compressor was then removed, partially dismantled, all remaining oil drained, new seals were installed, new Ester Oil and the replacement coolant for R-12, Freeze 12 (over the counter available to anyone) was installed. My air conditioning tech suggested not upgrading to R134a since it is an older system which is working well. In other words, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. And yes, parts are available for the AC system. My local autoparts store had the compressor seals the next day. This was the Ford dealer installed AC system with Ford parts numbers, including on the compressor manufactured by York. The tires are in excellent condition. The brakes are in excellent condition. Every indication is it is ready to be reliably driven anywhere with confidence. With the exceptions of the horn and radio, everything works, even the windshield washer! The horn itself does work when wired directly to the battery. I believe the problem is the contact in the steering wheel. The original AM radio turns on and hums but doesn’t pick up stations. There is a vintage 8 track player mounted inside the glove box that is obviously somehow connected to the radio's speaker system which may be why. If there is some way to switch from one to the other I haven’t figured it out yet and I haven’t tried the 8 track player since I don’t have any 8 track tapes. So, the radio and the horn are the only issues. I’ll also note that as is the case with all the original foam padded dash pads in these trucks it is cracked from shrinkage. However, there is a nice dash cover in place that was acquired in 2008 and the rest of the interior still looks practically brand new. If you’re looking for a low bucks Beater to bang around in this isn’t it. The old saying, “You get what you pay for” applies to this truck. If you attended or watched the Mecum Auction in DesMoines, Iowa, Mecum last week you’ll recognize my price is about half of what these early 1970’s Ford & Chevy pickups in excellent original condition are bringing at major collector car/truck auctions. If no one seizes this ebay opportunity that’s where I’ll be taking this truck next. I participate in Mecum auctions, including Kissimmee, Florida, in January. It would be an excellent vehicle to consign there and in the meantime I’ll be happy to continue enjoying it through the summer and fall here in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The present Kelley Blue Book, “Official Guide & Market Report For Early Model Cars & Trucks” shows recent selling prices of 1971 Ford F100’s of collector quality equipped with the 360 engine as follows: Fair Condition: $9,150 Good Condition: $12,200 Excellent Condition: $15,300 If you can, come see and drive this truck.
