Up for auction is a 1986 arctic blue 524td turbo diesel with 5 speed manual transmission. These cars normally came with automatic transmission. The engine runs but currently has a leaky head due to a blown coolant hose and overheating. There is only water as coolant and it is leaking into the block and exhaust. So this makes this car a project. I have a spare head but that is believed to be faulty as well. The spare head will be included with this auction but will only include the head and valve train minus the camshaft. The camshaft will be auctioned off separately. There are many new original BMW parts: New head gasket New head bolts New top end gaskets New timing belt and tensioner New trunk seal The turbo is excellent. There is very little rust as this was a previous Southern car and I do have the Virginia title. The title is not in my name but it was last registered in Vermont under my name. Vermont does not reasign titles for cars older than 15 years. Out of state motor vehicle departments do however, have to follow the NADA rules of Vermont for registration and vehicle reasignment. The car is estimated to have approximately 250K mi., and is unknown as the odometer does not work and is not the original. The speedometer works great, however. The tachometer does not. The power steering works great and brakes work great. It has all wheel anit-lock disc brakes in excellent condition with no shimmy. The tires are Contiextremes in very good shape. I drove the car in the winter and they performened excellent.The car handles excellent and has a very stiff suspension. The cornering of the car is impressive.
