Vehicle Detail
Here is an original, essentially unrestored 1967 Ford Mustang. The current owner leased the car when he came to Los Angeles in 1967 and in 1969 he purchased it from the leasing company. He has kept the car to this very day. I am listing and selling the car on his behalf. The cars owner is now elderly and not well enough to drive again and has therefore decided that the car is to be sold. The car runs great. The engine starts immediately from hot or cold. No rattles, no smoke it just runs excellently. The car drives excellently too. It has power assisted steering and non assisted brakes. The car has not been modified in any way. It is original with all numbers matching. It has just been serviced and repaired as necessary to keep it running well through its life. It has always been garaged, it has always been in California and so it is neither significantly rusty or sun damaged. It is a lot of fun to drive. The engine is remarkably powerful and responsive, the transmission behaves perfectly and the suspension feels firm and well damped. Be aware however that this is a 43 year old car. It has never been stripped down and restored. It is not perfect. The cars owner is not mechanically minded and has over the years entrusted repairs and servicing to local auto shops and has spent whatever has become necessary to keep the car running well. The car is as good as it looks in the pictures. I have endeavoured to provide the most revealing photographs that I can. Major work that has been done on the car in recent years includes a rebuild of the engine and carburetor and a repaint in the original color. The engine work appears to have been done excellently, as I have said it starts "on the button" and runs smoothly and powerfully. The paintwork appears to have been done by Earl Scheib. Again it is as good as it looks with a deep and lustrous shine, no fading peeling or cracking is evident - but it's an Earl Scheib job. It is what it is. It looks nice enough but it isn't going to win at concourse. One annoying defect is that some low life vandal scratched the drivers door at some, this has been touched up but remains somewhat visible, it can be seen in the relevant picture. There are two full cans of matching paint with the car. The interior is all original. There is no evidence of cracking, hardening or other sun damage to any of the plastics. There are some wear and tear issues on the drivers door card as can be seen and to lesser extent also on the passenger door. The carpets are near perfect, almost like new. The seats are comfortable and supportive and as far as I can tell have not sagged at all. All the equipment and accessories appear to function correctly with the exception of the blower motor which does not run and the radio which does not appear to switch on. The ignition lock is very worn and to a lesser extent so are the door locks. The dashboard looks nice though much of the plastichrome has dulled somewhat. The temperature gauge does not appear to function. Under the hood all oils and fluids are perfectly clean and are at the correct levels. The car does not require any regular topping up of anything in normal use. As I said it is running fine in all respects. I would hope the car can find a caring 2nd owner. It's a beautiful car just as it is and if correctly maintained will just keep being so. I know there is no such thing as an easy restoration but this car is as near as you will ever find to that ideal. If fully restored this Mustang would be simply stunning. The car is for sale locally also. If you have negative feedback please do not bid. Also please remember that a successful bid is a binding contract to purchase the car.
